Make a rosemary salve - PEP BB medicine.sand.salve.rosemary

Hey skip team! Learning about plant properties, I've been dreaming up this chest rub with local plants. I grew the rosemary and mullein, and foraged gumweed (or grundellia). All 3 of these plants went into an oil infusion made with olive oil, which I then used for this salve. According to a post here on permies.com, I used a great ratio of 16 oz. of oil infusion to 2.2 oz. of beeswax. I'm so pleased to get this huge chunk of beeswax from a local bee keeper! Before, I was ordering it online with shipping, metal wrap garbage, etc.... now there's no waste at all! Yay! So happy! Anyways, I heated them in a tiny crockpot, added eucalyptus and peppermint essential oils for smell, and then poured them into these small, re-used deodorant containers. Wa-la!

The slave I made last year with mullein leaf added in irritated my kids' chests. This season, I'm adding mullein flower to see if that's better. All three, rosemary, mullein, and gumweed are supposed to be excellent expectorants!

I made rosemary salves today. I harvested the rosemary at my parents and used my own rosemary oil. I chose to do a 5:1 ratio of oil and beeswax to make it softer.

I harvested the rosemary at my parents. I infused the oil over a month, shaking it every couple of days and storing in a cool dark cupboard. I chose to do a 5:1 ratio of oil and beeswax to make it softer.

I harvested rosemary from my garden, let it air dry, and infused it in fractionated coconut oil for a few weeks. For the salve, I added a bit of wax and she's butter. I eyeballed the amounts to make a soft salve.
