My normal dish soap isn't greywater friendly, it's just some Dawn.

But, I do have seventh generation for my clothes, and it should cut grease and everything else just fine.

It sounds like as long as it meets the greywater rules from the first post in the thread, you'd be good to go:

- must be greywater friendly soap (the soap usually says "greywater safe" or "readily biodegradable")

Soap used is some Seventh Generation laundry sauce. Works fine on dishes, and is completely non toxic, greywater safe, etc,.

You could drink it if it didn't taste like soap. And I tested. It tastes heavily of straight up soap. No chemical burn, aftertaste, etc,.

Ingestion instructions is literally to drink water to get the taste out. Nothing else.

Lemme try this again.  I finished my old dish soap and went out and got some new stuff.  It is BoulderClean and the website says it is gray water safe.  https://www.boulderclean.com/frequently-asked-questions/

Hi guys,
Here are photos of my greywater friendly washing liquid (1), dirty dishes (2), hand washing in progress (3), dishes done and drying in racks (including in dishwasher) (4), and dried up and put away (5). I may have had a slightly trigger happy squeeze on the dish soap so am aware the use of soap here is probably a bit excessive. My bad - I'm usually much more frugal with the squeezes, must have been camera nerves :)

i use a brush because it collects less bacteria over time and it's a bit more ergonomic :)

Michael,

For this BB to be complete you will need to repeat the amount of dishes washed a couple more time to reach a "full dishwasher".

Also we need a picture showing clearly less than 3 gallons of water used. If you can wash the dishes over a basin this makes it easier for Staff to see how much water was used.

Here is my submission for the Wash Dishes by Hand BB - Nest Aspect - sand.

To document my completion of this BB, I have posted:
- post a picture of the dirty dishes in the sink
- another photo with more dirty dishes on the counter
- several progress pictures of the dishes being washed
- picture of the completed dishes
- a 4-gallon bucket with dishwater used - an additional 1-gallon of water was in the rinse and sanitize tubs (combined)
- two pictures of the soap used

Soap used is biodegradable
Approximately 2-3 TBS of White Vinegar was used as the sanitizer agent.

Washing dishes before during and after...

Dishwashing soap is Dr Bronners sal suds and vinegar which I let sit with lemons for a while before mixing in - biodegradable and grey water friendly: https://www.lisabronner.com/sal-suds-dilution-cheat-sheet/comment-page-3/

This is a dishwasher load for me. I would have packed this and run it!

Just had a really simple lunch so hand washed the dishes. We only just moved to a place with a dishwasher 2 months ago so used to wash all by hand before then. My husband mistakenly bought a slightly more toxic washing up soap than we are used to (we don't normally buy those kind of things so wont repurchase) but using up at the moment. For this challenge though I broke out out a housewarming gift of vegan dish soap which states it is biodegradable.

Oh i've just noticed that it needs to be a whole dishwasher load. I think the requirements must have changed as a few of the earlier ones (which I looked through for examples) just have a few bits and bobs. I'll do the challenge again tomorrow then! Sorry!

Did a whole load tonight. I learnt a bit from the first one and put the tap on lower output when rinsing. I think the bowl is either 5 or 7L. I used a biodegradable vegan dish soap block and a bottle brush.

Please include a link (or some sort of documentation)showing that this is biodegradable. I checked the company website & it said biodegradable materials were used BUT it didn't claim it was 100% biodegradable. What else might it contain?
