Implement 4 Wooden Boxes for an Organizational System - PEP BB nest.straw.boxorganizing

I was sorting out the garage today and had a bunch of boxes, tools, nuts and bolts - a big mess.

I finished with seven labeled boxes.

1) Webbing - straps and bungees for lashing or tying things down
2) Bolts
3) Screws, washers, nails and hooks
4) Tape
5) Powertool accessories
6) Project pieces
7) Small wood scraps

The requirements are for wooden boxes or cubbies - I went for cardboard cubbies but will replace with wooden boxes next year after I move house.

What are cubbies in this context?

Matthias Wandel (woodgears.ca) has a lot of good designs.

He also tends to use upcycled/found wood, so added bonus there.

I didn’t realise what cubbies were - I thought they were the boxes that go in the unit called a cubby. With the cost of lumber at the moment and not being able to use ply, means it would cost me $50+ which is a waste of time and money when I can just upcycle cardboard boxes. I don’t have any wood to upcycle and haven’t had any luck finding any

Wow - that’s a lot of big bits of expensive machinery!

It looks like this BB is to make 4 wooden boxes OR 4 cubbies.  Cubbie meaning (in my mind) a book case like thing with at least four recesses in it.  In either case, they'd need labels.  Did I mention the labels?  Yes, lots of labels...

So I think your submission would have passed if you used wooden boxes instead of cardboard.  Looks like that is what the certifier was saying as well.

Round two:

This week I learnt that a cubby isn’t a small hiding place for things, but instead a large until full of holes. I really appreciate the feedback I got on my first attempt.

When we moved in to this house two years ago there was a large unit in the basement, left by the previous tenant. I’m not surprised, most of the doors are broken and all bar one of the draws don’t work. They have some complicated self / soft closing mechanism. The unit was a generic dumping ground and home of lost things. It took this task to motivate myself to do something about it. After my large garage clear out I needed to sort the basement out. I’m going to replace all the cardboard boxes there with boxes made from the wood I salvaged from the cubby unit.

Clarification please: would using four wood boxes (not cardboard) meet this bb? Or does it need to be a shelving unit that is apparently called a "cubbie" (new term to me).

Would replacing plastic bins with wood ones count? Do the wood bins need to be made (if so, material requirements/prohibitions) or can they have been purchased? Do they all need to be used in the same place, or are assorted location (e.g. Toy box, bathroom and kitchen organizers)  count?

Yes

Either works, four wooden boxes in an organized fashion with labels, or a wooden cubby/bookshelf/locker that has compartments that have labels would work.

No, you can purchase them.  There's a BB for making a box in Dim Woodworking...

I think they need to be in the same picture or relatively close to each other.

Screws - I like to pick up misc screws and hardware whenever I'm at the thrift shop.  As soon as I empty another coffee jar, going to actually go through them.
Floats
Garden
Wood
(the bottom unlabeled shelf is a heavy lawn game for stability)

I kinda let these cubbies over flow with junk. I had several piles of stuff that needed to go on them but couldn't because of haphazard placement.

Had some shelves in my garage that needed organization.  So I used some wooden boxes out of the trash from the Mexican store down the street.
They are labeled:

Oil, glue, liquids
Propane
Dewalt
