This might  include "making twine" out of different material, as some baskets use twine-like material as part of the finishing/handle process.

Old school pottery making. local materials. I am not sure if a kiln ended up happening at WL. If it did people could take the mugs/bowls home with them.

Rocket engine or not, a wood-fired kiln.
Maybe it could be both a traditional wood-fired pottery kiln, with  a rocket-fired option. Ceramics opens up lots of options, even for things Paul has listed above... flow forms, tiles (floor or roof), bricks... Can glass bottles be pulverized and turned into glazes?

A charcoal retort.
Bonus points if combined with some other useful function: Rocket mass heater, rocket pizza oven, dehydrator, hot water heater, kiln/forge, syngas generator...

Some sort of classifying screen to separate char for various uses:
Charcoal for biochar
barbeque grill fuel
rocket stove fuel, could be an element of an auto feeding scheme...
gasifier fuel
traditional forge fuel...

Build a below grade walk-in ice box cooler that can store ice and snow input from winter, maybe in 2’’ wide ‘ice walls’ that contain the ice. See how long it keeps cool through summer.

Chris Kay wrote:More information on "wind harp" if it pleases you to provide such.
Only thumbed-up because I don't know what it is and "Search threads and posts" refers back here.

I assume he means design and construction of an aeolian harp...?  Any string instrument powered by the wind can be designated an aeolian harp.  (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aeolian_harp
)

FYI, I constructed one in a college engineering course once.  They can in fact be far more varied in design than this article suggests.

Would it be useful to have a roundwood-framed old fashioned root cellar? At basecamp you might have to blast a hole to create one, and that sounds like a lot of work, but perhaps at the lab? Maybe it's cart before the horse, but someday there might be a need for storage of canned goods and other long-keeping garden produce, and i'm curious what the temperatures would be in such a structure, for comparison to the wofatis.

I don't know if this fits into the PTJ... but Paul, if you want to buy 2 sheep or 2 goats, I'll run a track on humane slaughter, butchering, and processing.
Potentially a lot of cooking involved (utilizing, or at least discussion of all usable parts of the animals...I could make a huge list, but outside of the "money" parts... sausage casing, haggis, definitely some basque style chorizo, smoked head, fat rendering, bones for broth or Sepp style bone salve...etc).
We could even do a how to prep, flesh and tan the hides with brain and smoke.
I'm thinking it might be useful for you all to have a large stock of wonderful meat available for the 6 weeks of anticipated guests that might decide to eat at your dinner table. The fun part about home butchering is (as a cook myself) you can cater the butchering to the cook on what they like cook and how, and how to stretch the precious meat in ways that would actually be able to feed a small army.
And, of 'course, the best meat parts would be saved for our fearless leader.
Just a thought.
My offer of expertise in this enterprise is open for discussion.
your neighbor, just over the big hill.
P.

Try your hand at garden scaffolding.  A very forgiving form of round wood timber framing.  Using kinda rotten wood (so easy to cut into) and sloppy work is fine - the whole thing is expected to rot out in a few years anyway.
