This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEP curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the straw badge in Nest.

In this Badge Bit, you will remove, clean and reinstall three window screens.

To complete this BB, the minimum requirements are:
-remove, clean and reinstall 3 window screens

To show you've completed this Badge Bit, you must provide proof of the following with pictures (or a video < 2 mins long):
   - before, during, and after of removing, cleaning and reinstalling 3 window screens
   - demonstrate it meets the above stated requirements

Some badges, I’m following in the footsteps of many, there’s detailed instructions and youtube videos.
This wasn’t one of those, so it was a good lesson in finding stuff out for yourself. Here’s what I learnt.

If I owned this place, I would be looking at a big bill for replacement windows. Half the windows, I can’t open because they’re either jammed or the safety locks are broken.
I need to clean all my windows.
I need to clean all the surrounds.
I need to get out of NJ . . . I knew this already but the dirt just from air was depressing - I breath that stuff in!

Here are my tips for the next person to go down this path.

Be gentle - the screens are delicate. I used hose on a fine but strong spray to clean the mess and a cloth on the edges.
They are ten times easier to put back from the outside.
You can hang them on a washing line to dry.
Be prepared to find some icky stuff around the frames - dead bugs, condensed diesel fumes, empty mudwasp nests, winged tree seeds, spiders . . .

As mentioned, I used a fine spray to wash the mesh, a wet cloth to clean the frames and I drier them on the line.

Here are my pictures:

I popped out and cleaned 5 window screens while cleaning my windows for the nest sand badge. I took pictures of the process because, for me, cleaning the screens just seemed like part of cleaning the windows thoroughly. Can I post those pictures here for this badge bit or would I need to clean 3 additional window screens?

I popped out and cleaned 5 window screens when I was working on cleaning the windows themselves for another BB. I'm reposting the pictures here. Hopefully, this counts, but I'm sure I could find a friend who needs a few screens cleaned if not.

Note: I would prefer a better action shot but I see wet screens & a hose. Certified.

Here are some window screens I cleaned the other day. I first hosed them down.  Scrubbed the screens lightly with a brush.  Used a rag and toothbrush for the frames.   Then gave them a rinse. Let them air dry and reinstalled them.
