I cleaned our oven a few years ago with a commercial oven cleaner and I wouldn't wish that evil stuff on anyone. I was happy to try a different way. Even though the oven didn't look too bad at first, the baking soda wash definitely got a lot of gunk out. Happy to have a clean oven now, including a window with no grease spots.

As per instructions, I made a paste with baking soda and water, applied it with a sponge, then let sit all afternoon. I scrubbed it out with a sponge and the last pic is a clean oven.

I will admit it, I do not know when this oven was cleaned last but clearly it has been a while.

I've definitely been neglecting my oven so it was time to clean it. I used baking soda and left it for a couple of hours before scrubbing away the dirt. I'm in a rental so didn't want to take apart the oven door in case my landlord disapproves. However, I tried my best to clean the outside glass.

Years of gunk build up. I had chronic fatigue for awhile, and cleaning the oven was near the bottom of the list when I had small spurts of energy. And since I react to most chemicals, I figured I would have to get someone else to clean my oven. I had my doubts that baking soda would be enough, but it worked surprisingly well once I figured out the tricks with hot water.

Try try again. Cleaner- water, paper towels, baking soda, heat, and elbow grease.

OK, so I tried this out today. I watched the videos this morning, then cleaned things by sweeping it out and then applying a paste of soda to the oven surfaces. At eleven, I found it to be all dry, so I misted it down thoroughly with water. When I came back at two in the afternoon, I started trying to clean. Interestingly, I found cleaning the glass to be harder than I expected from those videos, and cleaning the metal to be more or less what they showed -- just wiping the stuff up and giving a scrub to a few spots. I'm wondering now if it's because the materials have different attributes or if it's just that I was close  to the glass and could see through it, so I cared more about getting it clean. Anyway, the oven is now much cleaner! (I maybe over-documented it.)
