I gave a presentation on tree felling at Wheaton Labs at the beginning of the BB20 event.  10+ people were in attendance and Opalyn took photos.  My phone clock didn't work for the pics but luckily the clock in the back of the room did the job.  Huge thanks to Opalyn for taking the pics!

Here is my submission for the Community Aspect - Sand for Straw - Give a Presentation BB.

During the PTJ 2022, I presented Seed to Cloth to the attendees.  This presentation reviewed the process of tending sheep and all the steps between shearing the fleece and making a blanket or sweater.

I put together a Wild Medicine workshop. I advertised in my hometown, listing 3 plants to be foraged, then crafted into medicine. I even fed the participants a fabulous dinner! The cost was $15 for each guest. 11 folks registered. I started just after 5:30pm at my house, then took everyone to the wilderness area where we found the plants. In this picture, we are picking red clover. We also picked elderberries, burdock, gumweed, blackberries, and bee balm. (Some extra goodies in there!) We came back to my house, made an herbal salt, a hot infusion, a honey extraction, and elderberry syrup. When the workshop was over, after 9:00pm, my kids came in to eat leftovers. I have the picture of them, since I forgot to take a picture before everyone left. But I do have a picture of everyone eating our dinner. The dang watch is fuzzy. I must have moved my wrist just at the wrong second. However, the windows in the back ground show it was light when I started, and dark when it ended.  I hope that is a good enough indicator of time.

What a fun BB!  My church's men's group allowed me to speak about permaculture at a monthly gathering.  It was a beautiful summer evening, so I spoke outside.  Since I didn't have a PowerPoint for visual aids I passed around a whole bunch of books about different permaculture/SKIP relevant topics. There was also a handout that was a rough outline of the presentation which included a list of references and resources in case they wanted to go and learn more on their own.  

I gave them a shotgun blast over view/awareness level presentation.  We covered the OG's; Bill Mollison and Fukuoka on up to the modern masters; Joel Salatin, Paul Stamets, Paul Wheaton, etc. They learned about the SKIP program and the tremendous fun and benefit of it.  There was a particular interest in mushrooms, rainwater collection, and metalwork.  I chuckled when one fellow commented that he thought it was pretty cool that there is a word (permaculture) that means all the things his wife is into!  

Here is my submission for the Community - Sand - Present BB.

I presented the Permaculture Design Principle: Produce No Waste to an environmental club consisting of 2nd-5th graders. "Oh, there's no such thing as waste, only things in the wrong place" --from formidable vegetable. The focus was primarily on the non-recycling actions: refuse, reuse, repair, and rot. I nearly didn't get a photo at the end because we only had an hour and the kids wrapped dandelion flower cookies in homemade beeswax wraps to take home so I needed to be part of the assembly line getting them out the door for their parents to pick them up.  I hope that the beeswax wraps prevent hundreds of ziplocks from going to the landfill and that the kids think of clever ways of minimizing their waste. I was thrilled by how participatory the kids were!

Note: Obviously, I altered the photos to hide (and count) the heads of these children. I added a duplicate attachment 2 photo for the ending of the presentation photo to include a zoom in for the two students at the very back of the room.

This is my second attempt at documenting myself doing a presentation. It has been really hard getting photos taken while I'm working
