We all have cancer cells in our bodies all the time. We also have 380 trillion (yes trillion) viruses in our bodies at any given time.

We are pretty much meabag hosts for parasites and microbes with souls/self-reflective consciousness.

In any case - GOOD FOR YOU! I am very interested in how things go for you, Paul. I had decided as a young person, if I ever was given a diagnosis, if they couldn't cut it out, that was it, I was never going to do chemo or radiation.

I'd like to know more. I don't understand the tech of a "private forum". Where is it? Can anyone go and sit in and learn?

It is much easier to talk about stuff in the private forum.  There I have shared details about what I am doing.

Thank you for explaining. I had to Google "paywall". Unfortunately, we're at $1000 a month income and $1200 outgo at present, a husband at home with chronic fatigue (no disability and no government money) and me working as much as I can, so I'll have to pass on paying for more. Luckily, he grew up in poverty and I grew up a hippie raised by Depression-era people, so we both know how to make do and be fine without money being the center of our lives.

There is also the cider press for those who want to talk about cancer in general, especially toxins and some of the treatments that are less welcomed by allopathic medicine.

Thank you. I went over and saw a bunch of posts about needing apples and pie and I don't understand any of it so I'll just stay where I am for now. Tech things and social media completely confuse me. When people can't just talk amongst themselves and make sense, the whole species has gone to heck in a handbasket. LOL

I wish to share that my oncologist told me last week that I am accomplishing "1 out of 200".  I think that what she is saying is that for 200 people that try this path, I am the one that has stuck to it for a year.

a bigger mission

I like the idea that a dozen people come here to help.  I do much better and we upgrade things here to have better gardens and better everything to really tackle health stuff.  For some people choosing this path, for weight loss or all sorts of health things.   And then people can come here, in the future, and get the support that I am seeking now.

What if we have a few dozen people living here year round.  We grow gardens and prepare food, collectively, and do things that fit well with lots of health goals?  And then a handful of people come and try it for a week.

I just need to get through the next two months with some support.

I can completely understand wanting the support of your community. I wish you all the best in the world to help your body rid itself of the cancer.

I will say this: I find it a little off-putting the get this email this morning:
"This is Paul the sicko.

Yup. Cancer.  I am using food-as-medicine and it is working.  And I need some help getting to the finish line."

And then find out the only way to join together and help you to the finish line is through a monetized program. Seems like a bit of bait and switch to me - a request for help and then a notice that the only way to offer that help is to pay for helping.

I absolutely love what I read on permies but monetizing community just has its limits with my patience.

Don't get me wrong - I'm not angry or upset and not trying to start a fight. I'm too old for that. Hahaha! I'm just saying, it's a bit much for an older person to go online to good sites and then feel a bit sucker-punched at the end. It's just tiring. I'm not angry; I'm tired of it.

If money is a concern,  then definitely see to those needs first.   It's like they teach us in first aid, don't help if it's not safe to do so.  Choosing between this and meeting basic needs isn't an option. (I know, because that's more than two weeks food budget for me.)

For everyone else, I want to mention something to put this call for help in perspective.

Permies runs at a loss. Paul pays for it out of his own pocket.   And we get to hang out here with the fantastic community for free.

Paul built a website that makes the internet worth keeping.   It's a fucktonne of work to keep the community running and nice, and thanks to the army of volunteers we do our best.

But just because it's free for us to use, it doesn't mean it's free.

From my point of view,  Paul gives more back to this community than he asks for.  He makes this community possible. We are where we are today because we stand on the shoulders of this giant and the work he does.

Reading between the lines,  I suspect that money is the least of the reasons for restricting access to his cancer conversation.

I'm sorry to hear that. A friend is going through cancer too. I'm glad you found something that works and isn't too unpleasant... hopefully.

And I've had to learn about a hundred times more about self-care than I ever wanted to learn.

That sucks. You learn about things you probably didn't want to learn about, even if they're good habits and stuff.
Some advice sounds crazy!
And people do crazy things when they hear about cancer.
Good luck.

I don't think this is a monetization play.

I've noticed Paul is a big fan of filters.

Making you pay 100 for bootcamp isn't covering any of the risk or cost associated with bringing a greenhorn onto the team. But putting up some coin is the difference between someone who really wants in vs a speculator.

Same with the podcasts. If you have listened to all Paul's podcasts and still want to go to wheaton labs, that is a darn good filter as well.

This paywall is another filter. Putting up some coin ensures that when Paul allows you into this intimate part of his life, you are interested in actually interacting along the rules of the first post in this thread. A lot of people are only interested in telling Paul what to do.

Certain topics and information are removed from the internet. When it's behind a paywall this doesn't happen.

When you're in a position like Paul's you need levels of filtering that correspond to the different spheres of your life.

Wow. Your journey and your sharing, I’m newish here and it’s such an amazing resource and I admire all that you have done for the world through your various and incredible efforts.

I would invite working with the quantum field (and some will immediately discredit this is quackery) but the work of Joe Dispenza is powerful. He suffered a severe spinal injury and rehabilitated himself through visualization. Sounds to good to be true but it is a discipline of shifting neurology and physiology through attention. We literally can up and down regulate genetic expression (turning genes on and off happens in relation to environment and the whole field of epigenetics is dedicated to this.)

I’m two years into overcoming all sorts of chronic and hard to treat illnesses (lymes , Postural orthostatic tachychardia, mold toxicity) using neuroplasticitiy principles. The program I used was www.retrainingthebrain.com
Dispenza’s work amongst that of a bunch of brain scientists informs it.
Dispenza’s book Becoming Supernatural and the meditations there in - or doing a retreat. Miraculous things happen (literal “impossibilities”).

Here is an interview https://open.spotify.com/episode/2XBPnNyRKrzHbe4QFMKhEz?si=Rale5sfpSKSizJPnhK3Usw

Wishing support and swift recovery!

Agreed.  At the same time, I cannot think of another way to go about it.

Last year I needed to share my stuff and get feedback and make some tough decisions.  I roped in my patreon peeps.  These are people that paid monies to support my making a bunch of stuff free to the permies.  I think this says something about them.

Every day I get people telling me to stop doing what I think is right and instead do what they tell me to do.  Without regard for why I live my life the way I think it is right.  They simply require strict obedience.  The hilarious thing is that these people are not aware of the equal number of people insisting that I obey the opposite thing.

So when trying to make difficult decisions, I turned to the this group that seemed to be aware of my message and supportive of it.

Next, and this is the biggie ...  as I said in the very first post in this thread

During this adventure, a lot of my favorite online resources have disappeared from the internet complete with a message of "censorship."

I have a lot more to say about this.

Have you noticed that nearly all of the "alternative" programs are in mexico?

So, yes, this is shitty.  And I cannot think of another way to do this.

I am sorry to hear you have cancer Paul. Know that you are greatly appreciated and I am praying for you.
This year is the first time I have learnt and heard about something called lifestyle medicine and it's big on food as medicine. It has opened my mind up to possibilities that exist out there when it comes to medicine. I wish you success in your journey.

I was diagnosed in 2004 with Stage 3 melanoma. I had a huge chunk removed from my left bicep, all the lymph nodes in my left armpit removed, and a year of Interferon therapy. My husband and I eat at the Paleo end of Keto and I already had a gallon-a-day water habit even before Interferon therapy. I ended up being a case study for my wonderful oncologist because he had never seen anyone do so well on Interferon therapy. My white blood cell count never dropped enough that I had to skip or reduce a single dose, and since that time my cancer tests have all been negative.

I eat a great deal of fresh greens, mostly from my garden (right now a ton of foraged chickweed and miner’s lettuce!), and although I’m a new gardener, I’m doing well at it. My favorite green is Baker Creek’s Perpetual Spinach; I can even grow it in a covered bed through the winter!

When I was diagnosed, I immediately added a lot of fresh turmeric, ginger and garlic to my garden (buckets, I live in Indiana!) and my diet, looking at the anti-cancer properties of turmeric. My garden is my favorite cancer treatment, for the food, exercise, sunshine, and positive microbes it gives me! I’m now exploring mushrooms and fermentation and looking forward to new flavors!

Come support you by living in community and eating Uber healthy organic while working and living close to nature?! So tempting! I even enjoy the challenge of cooking delicious food for restricted diets. If my kids were just a little older, I’d be booking plane tickets. I hope some great people take you up on it because I hear you, sticking to a new lifestyle regime alone is hard!

I’ll at least join the forum and see if I can make any simple recipe suggestions with the allowed ingredients. Though I’m not generally a recipe person. I’m more of a “wing it” cook (and gardener, and crafter, and… yeah, it’s a hard and fast personality trait of mine)

Hi Paul
Its wonderful to support the human side of cancer...  good food, supplements, massage etc  It sounds like its doing you well.... Would you like to step up your game?    I suggest the teachings of Joel Goldsmith:    You will find them on youtube.  Cheers!

I respect the paywall and the reasons for it. Just wish is wasn't out of reach for me at this time. I've been on a journey for about 14 years and I understand so much of where you are at and what you are seeking. I wish you all the best on your continued journey. I intend to keep breaking all the "rules" skewing their statistics.

Dearest Paul,

Tommy the tumour has sorely underestimated you.

I don't know you, but I read your content and I think anyone who has would agree that you are perhaps one of the most fantastically stubborn individuals to have walked the earth.

My heart has little doubt that you will overcome this Paul, and that it will become a great victory and a badge of honor for you to wear.

Big Respect for coming out with this online.

It sounds like you know exactly what you need to do so, with any luck, lots of cool permie people will come lend thier incredible energy in person and in the private forum to support you as you work to overcome this challenge. I hope you can have many days spent in the sunshine talking, tinkering, laughing and dreaming big together with people who are bonkers about all your favorite permaculture things - as soon as and as much as possible!

I have little to offer you other than my gratitude and respect, but here is a quote that I feel has relevance here:

"Be selfish in your recovery"
-an addictions counselor

F%&$ Cancer and good luck sir.

Dear Paul,
My heart goes out to you.
I am a cancer survivor, by 10 yrs.
My best advice I have is to stop eating meat… And read a book called
The China Study if you need
convincing.
Here’s a video about it.

You can beat it! Believe:)

Hi Paul,

This is Lisa.  I visited in September as a Sepper up at the Lab in the Teepee.  I helped with the mayonnaise, that your friend put on the fridge; you may remember that.  I sometimes still make it.

I was inspired by your discipline with your diet and your ability to set strong boundaries...which was also a bit intimidating since I am not good at it (I guess it's something you had to learn to do when running a community).  I had really wondered what was going on with you health-wise and am glad you have shared with us.  I would be glad to join your support community.  Is there a link to join?  "Behind the paywall"?  (not sure of the specific that you are asking).  I am not so good at navigating websites, so maybe I missed something.

Lisa

To anyone confused about the paywall. If you follow this link you will have the opportunity to spend some money. If you do, you will have access to a three-hour long podcast discussion about Paul's cancer and also a forum reserved for talking further about the anti-cancer program that he's pursuing.

Dear Paul, one of my great heros of ALL TIME!!!

This is shocking news! You have all of my support to the moon and back. A thousand times.

Genetics are one thing, nutrition is another. I have used these tools expensively, and have recently found stepping up my game with Fasting. Old cells are flushed at 17hours of fasting and the miricles of Stem cells are created at 72 hours of fasting, I would look into this regeneration technique and be mindful while trying it.

I am sending so much love your way. I am thinking of you. You don't know me and that's OK, I know you as a shining star on this planet.

Thank you for inspiring me to build my community with hope. I have shared the books. I have posted in my next door forms. Thank you for leading a path of hope. May you find what you are looking for and wishing you the best of luck!!
