It looks clear enough to me, but then again I see similar images a lot.

What about wilderness / bushcraft?

Also, Nicole for that bottom icon you posted Jan 4, what about using that as a technology or engineering bumper sticker? There's quite a few inventive farmers & permaculture people out there!

I think the hunting one kind of fits with that, though not perfectly. Each icon has to correlate to a forum/category https://permies.com/forums/forums/allForums, and I'm not seeing a bushcraft forum. BUT, we do have a wild harvesting forum, and I could use the dandelion bumpersticker I made for that.

Also, Nicole for that bottom icon you posted Jan 4, what about using that as a technology or engineering bumper sticker? There's quite a few inventive farmers & permaculture people out there!

Any idea what forum that would link to from our list of forums (https://permies.com/forums/forums/allForums)?

Thank you so much for bumping this bumpersticker thread! I kind of hit an "artist block" when trying to make a cow. There oddly weren't good pictures for me to massage into a bumpersticker. I need to get back to work on that...

I think I got them all uploaded! Now's a good time to try them out and see how they look. I can't edit the bumperstickers after they're uploaded, but I can delete and re-upload them. So, it's good to get them fixed before a bunch of people use them only to find them missing after I "fix" them.

The new bumper stickers are beautiful - well done Nicole and all the other contributors.

Is there a bumper sticker for aquaponics? How would it differ from rain water harvesting, pond systems, grey water and fishing?

Can we get one for horsekeeping?  Horses can be so hard on the land if not managed well — I'm trying to learn how to manage them + land well and would love to connect with other permies who are horsekeepers, too!

I didn't realize we didn't have a horse!

I tried to whip one up. Not sure if the rampant horse is good, or if I should do a running one instead?

Not a complaint, just an inquiry... I'm a little unaware.  And staffers, please move this post if I've posted in the wrong thread or forum.

I seem to remember that originally I was allowed to select six bumper stickers as part of my profile.  At this point (a few hundred posts & quite a few "Likes" later, and with 52 apples), I get a message that I'm still limited to six bumper stickers.  Possibly you've had to answer this sort of question to the point of true fatigue (sorry).  But WHY?  Thanks.

Ah! That's because when someone has pie, they can put more bumper stickers up.

Let's test it, though! I'll give you a piece of pie (you can keep it, too!). Can you put up more bumper stickers now?

I was setting up my profile and I was looking at the bumper stickers.
I was wondering if there was a way to add more options.
The topics I would like to see are:
Composting
Vermicomposting
Gardening

Thanks
Duane

Hi Duane, and welcome to permies!!!

I hope you don't mind that I merged your thread into this one. It was just a little easier to have all the bumper sticker suggestions and discussion in one thread, that way I don't lose track of it!

The topics I would like to see are:
Composting
Vermicomposting
Gardening

I hadn't realized we didn't have bumper stickers for those things!

It looks like for gardening we have:

Forest Garden
and
Hugelkulture

But nothing for the more well-known gardening forms. Anyone have an idea of what a simple icon for it would look like? I can colorize it to match the others--I just need an idea or image to work off of.

For vermicomposting, would a worm work?

For normal composting, would something like this work:

Dinking around, trying to make the compost and vermicompost images. Man, they're hard! The worm was really hard to get to look like a worm, and not a snake or lump. Working at low resolution is hard.

I also realized that I'd never uploaded a horse bumpersticker. I fiddled around with my previous version a bit more, and I think it's better

What about a garden trowel for gardening? I'm totally open to more ideas!

Looking through all the bumperstickers I made in the past, I found one for seed-saving. I think it's better to have it linked to the Seeds and Breeding forum, rather than using it for gardening. But I wanted to attach it here to see if it's a decent image (and to make sure I actually put it into our system. Apparently, no one replied this thread for 3.5 years, and I totally forgot to upload a horse image!).

I like the horse, seed packet, and composting icons. I don't think I would have guessed that worm without being told, but I don't know what changes could be made either. I think it'll work.

The trowel is fine for gardening, but my vote would be for a plant instead of a tool. Like a seedling. I haven't looked at the bumper stickers lately to see if there's already a seedling for another category.

Great work with such low resolution!

Nicole, thanks for looking at this so quickly.  I went out to see if there were any gif of gardens to use as inspiration and I found most images are very complex and used many colors/images.
One thought I had for a  garden icon might be using three little plant icons in a row.

The composting bumper sticker looked fine.  I paused for a moment to realize it was an apple core in the middle of the image, the reason was to me I always think of the leaves first in the compost pile.

With that said, maybe for the vermicomposting bumper sticker you could put the outline of the apple core behind the worm.  Another thought was to shrink the size and put the worm next to the apple core and recycle loop around both.

I did like the “SEED” image for the seed saving, that is one of the other activities I have slowly been getting into as we garden so that is nice to see it in the posting.

I was thinking something like ‘mind-body practices’ which could cover meditation, yoga, tai chi/qigong, breathing exercises, etc.
For the icon, maybe someone in meditation or the tree pose. Tree pose seems like a pretty recognizable shape for something so small.

Thanks for bumping this thread and thereby reminding me to upload the bumperstickers! Seed, horse, and composting are uploaded! I was about to upload the earthworm for vermicomposting, but I'm not sure what forum to link it to. Anyone see a good forum listed in our forum list? https://permies.com/forums/forums/allForums

Nikki Roche wrote:The trowel is fine for gardening, but my vote would be for a plant instead of a tool. Like a seedling. I haven't looked at the bumper stickers lately to see if there's already a seedling for another category.

I went and looked in my profile settings, and we have for urban, and for foraging. I could do a little plant growing out of soil, rather than a pot, but I'm not sure how well that will work? I'll give it a try.

I think the tree pose, being so tall, wouldn't work out very well. I tried it out down below, but I think it's too small and blurry!

All the bumper stickers are linked to a forum here on permies--do you have an idea for which forum would be a good fit for this one? Here's a list of all of our forums: https://permies.com/forums/forums/allForums

Here's two different seedling icons for gardening. Is either one good? Anything I should change? Maybe the trowel is better?

I agree with L. Johnson that cross legged pose is probably the best due to how recognizable it is. But then again, will that look like a blob? Thanks for trying tree pose. That was quick.

As for links, I know that personal care already has a bumper sticker, but I don’t know where else this one would link. That seems to be where these kind of topics go— like the recently popular breathing exercises thread for example.

EDIT: I just realized the image for personal care is the same as for PEP natural medicine badge. Fitting, since it is a tincture. What if the tincture image(which could be known as the ‘natural medicine’ bumper sticker) linked to the PEP natural medicine forum, and the meditation image linked to personal care?

I was helping make some different badge images for Mike's PEM badge https://permies.com/f/494/PEM, and in the process made some bumper sticker images. I'm not sure if any will be useful, or what forums to tie them to. I figured I'd post them here before I went to bed.

I had a request for an art bumper sticker, so now we have:

leading to https://permies.com/c/art

I also finally added:

leading to https://permies.com/f/81/timber

leading to https://permies.com/f/92/ancestral-skills

I mean, I made the bumper stickers--might as well add them to something! Those seemed like the best fits!
