This is a Badge Bit (BB) that is part of the PEP Curiculum. Completing this BB is part of getting the sand badge in Natural Medicine.

For this BB you will create mullein blossom and garlic infused oil:
- Make the infused oil, and take a picture of it being made, and of it being finished.

NOTE!   Some people prefer mullein blossom oil without garlic.   This is acceptable - but you need to add a mention for your reasons for not including garlic.

I made an oil infusion of garlic and mullein blossoms! I used the slow cooker in wheaton labs to speed up the process.

I used the 30 day maceration process for this oil. Harvested the mullein flowers from the creek near my home. I used fresh flowers so I leave them sit for a day to wilt and for bugs to depart,.add a splash of high proof alcohol and shake the flowers in the jar to fully coat flower and remove unseen and unwanted pests, then cover in oil and let sit in a cool place for a month. Strain and label. I use this for my ears as needed for waxy build up or earache.

I did not use garlic due to my personal preference. I make separate oils and blend them as needed. Last time I used a garlic in my ear oil my pillow repelled vampires for far longer than my ear ached.

I made mullein blossom olive oil. I did not include the garlic because I would like to keep them separate. Last year I used the mullein leaf oil I made to make a breathing salve. However, the tiny hairs irritated my kids' skin. So this year, I will try it with mullein blossom. I don't want to smear garlic on their chest. I did make a garlic oil on its own. I've already used it for ear infections, and it works great!
