This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEP curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the sand badge in Natural Medicine.

In this badge bit, you will harvest, dry, and store alfalfa leaf or blossom.


Minimum requirements:
-  Harvest, dry, and store enough alfalfa leaf and/or blossom to make a tea, infusion, or decoction.

To document completion of the BB, provide proof of the following as pics or video (< 2 min):
- a picture of the fresh herb being harvested
- a picture of your herbs drying (hanging, in a dehydrator, in a bag, etc.)
- a picture of your herbs in a sealed and labeled container
    - label shows where the herbs came from, the date, and method of drying

Here is my submission for the Natural Medicine Aspect - Sand for Straw - Dry Alfalfa BB.

I harvested Alfalfa at Wheaton Labs during the PTJ 2021.  It was dried in the solar dehydrator.

To document the completion of the BB, I have provided the following:
- a picture of your fresh herbs being harvested
- a picture of your herbs drying (hanging, in a dehydrator, or in a bag, etc)
- a picture of your herbs in a sealed and labeled container.
    - label shows where the herbs came from, the date, and the method of drying (WL = Wheaton Labs as harvest location)

It's the season for stray alfalfa plants in every pasture, road shoulder and even park to be blooming. I've heard that alfalfa is an excellent nutritive plant, especially for diabetics. So my kids and I have been pulling the blossoms (the most medicinally active part of the plant right now) dehydrating them and storing them. The plastic bag is temporary, since I've been grinding them into a powder to make a vitamin mix with them. It's hard to tell it's alfalfa at that point, so I used this pic instead.
