I took a photo of a few logs, and started to make a spoon with the lilac wood. This was harder than expected and cracked before I finished it.
The middle log was from a black locust and was a lot easier to work with.
I enjoy carving spoons when I get a chance. I'll send you some shots of my favorite hardwood spoon I use in the kitchen. I went a little thin on the front end of the bowl which made it a great stirrer, scooper and scraper.
I made a spoon over the past few days. It's currently kind of ugly so I'll keep whittling on it.

Ok, I kept at it. Mainly to make it pretty. Now I think it's well past "big, ugly and nearly useless". I think it might be worth renaming the BB something like "Carve a big spoon" to realign expectations.
