Canada lettuce (Lactuca canadensis)

Harvested wild, incorporated into the filling for burritos. The lettuce was blanched to remove bitterness, chopped, and incorporated into a filling of roasted diced sweet potatoes, black beans, onions, and garlic. Included is a picture of the filling rather than the burritos since the lettuce wasn't visible once wrapped up in a tortilla. It was assembled with cheese, sour cream, avocado, and cilantro - all it needed was a nice, cold beer. Would make again!

P.S. I assume other natives not listed specifically here are acceptable for this BB since not all plants grow wild in all places.

Note: I'm afraid it *does* need to be from the list of specific forage.

Every thing is growing! So it was time for a foraged salad! There was chickweed, lambs quarters, violet leaves, mallow, wild rose flowers, dandelion flowers, and narrow plantain.

A little chickweed salad! I harvested from giant chickweed plants growing as a volunteer on our compost pile.
The finished salad is topped with ground ivy, chives, olive oil, garlic, and pepper. Everything is foraged except for the olive oil, garlic, and pepper.

I love lambs quarters in my smoothies. This is a green smoothie with lambs quarters as the green contributor. The other ingredients are frozen berries and flaxseed and almond milk. Yum!
