After I started spinning wool and my partner made the first pair with naalbinding, we decided we could never go back to commercial socks!
This pair of socks wore through at the heel and needed a darn. As the hole was so big (been a busy spring/early summer, so I let it go a bit longer than I
should have!), I decided to use my vintage Spedweve to help darn the hole. It's a lovely antique darning tool--basically a tiny loom. I had been wanting one for a couple years after seeing one on someone's blog, and then I found half of one at an op shop for $2--which is some of the best $2 I've ever spent! I turned the wooden piece that holds the work, and carved the naalbinding needle.
The darn is a large rewoven patch that's woven in on all four sides--great for mending larger holes in heels like this one.
