This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEP curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the sand badge in earthworks.

For this BB, you will be learning how to use a tractor loader by moving material such as soil, gravel, sand, or wood chips for fifteen minutes.



Requirements:

  - it must appear that at least five scoops was moved

To get certified for this BB, post five pics.  

  - The pile of material before you begin
  - The destination before you begin
  - action pic
  - a pic of the source pile at completion
  - a pic of the destination at completion

Will you accept moving woodchips? Its a big pile. Like 5 commercial truckloads

I think the purpose of this BB is to demonstrate that you can use the loader. It seems like lifting woodchips would demonstrate that you can use the loader so I'm going to say that's fine. But maybe Paul will come here later and say otherwise.

It's hard to take a picture of a timer and yourself on a tractor.  Could we just show the dirt piles before and after the work is done?  Also, are there other loader activities that could qualify for this?  Moving snow, making a short road, rough grading an area, etc?  I'm assuming the point of the BB is to get experience with the loader attachment, not just the tractor bits.

Ok, I did what I could to document.  I took a photo when I started and finished of a timer.  1:02 elapsed but a bit more than half of that time the tractor was not running.  That's because basecamp didn't have any piles of dirt that needed to be relocated.  I did take three scoops and put them on the berm shed and in a sand barrel.  So unloading required me (and Coco - Thanks!!!) to unload it by hand on top of the shed.

This Kubota tractor was a dream to operate.  I've never used one before and it was very intuitive.  Maybe all tractors are this way but I liked it.
