Would you rather your chainsaw always started second pull or that it never would run out of oil?

I started a thread to get "Would You Rather" style questions to start conversations here -> https://permies.com/t/238000/Permaculture-Edition#2203263 That thread is more for thinking up questions. This thread is for answering them.

So... Would you rather your chainsaw always started on the second pull or that it never would run out of bar oil?

Personally I'd rather have the thing always start on the second pull.

Mine's a battery one - it does both!

Well, first 'pull' actually...

Plus it's light enough for me to use, and I don't give up in despair having used all my energy up failing to start it.

Bar oil wins.  All my chainsaws are electric.

Wait, your saws don't already start on the second pull?

If I choose infinite bar oil does that mean my saw won't start anymore? Is this a monkey's paw thing?

Too afraid to answer hahaha

Well gosh,   My gas saw already starts in a pull or two.
I burn a tank of fuel, then sharpen the chain, and refill it with fuel and bar oil.
Pretty straightforward.
With my cordless saw, I  sharpen the chain and top up the oil tank.
When you use a chainsaw as much as I have, you learn to stop and sharpen the chain often.

You beat me to it! I love our battery chainsaws! The only thing you need a gas one for is large hardwood. But sometimes I forget to check the oil.

Chainsaw that started on the second pull.  I often don't do things with the chainsaw because of the time it will take to get it running again.  15 minute job but an hour, new spark plug, fuel system flush etc to be able to use it.  As a mechanic I have a never ending supply of oil from oil changes.

Second pull, please. I've watched my husband trying to get one started too many times. Higher altitude was a factor there, too.
My real-life vote is that battery saws are aMAZing! Worth it for the decreased noise factor alone.

I guess secod pull but Ive never used a chain saw so I dont know what "running out of bar oil" really means. Is this messy? expensive? hard to do? Just an annoyance?

One pull, it can wear me out, pulling and pulling, plus I'm not a very big person, so just pulling the rope out far enough, with my little arms is hard to do, plus holding the chain saw back with my little foot, is not easy but would be fun to film.

Is electric an option?

I don't use ours much, but it starts on the first pull, even after sitting unused for 4 years.  Chain management is a pain in the arse.

Oil is the easy part of taking care of a chain, so unless all the other stuff is included (sharpening, tension, etc), I would stick with an easy start.

snakes are really good at eating slugs. And you wouldn't think it, but so are tiny ads:
