Me to family: "So apparently I got more pie today on my forum that I'm on."
Family: "You got pie??"
Me to family: "Yeah. See?" (shows off pie) "Apparently I got it because I got 20 apples."
Family: "Wait... you got apples now?"
Me to family:  "Yeah. See?" (shows off apples)
Family: "Does this pie do anything for you?"
Me to family: "Let me see..... Yep. Look right here. I can get into this super secret pie only forum. See?"

Family: "Are you in a cult?"

Yep! You've joined a cult alright! I cultivated a bed for tomatoes yesterday. I was hoping to cultivate some pots for peppers today, but alas I didn't get that far. Here on permies, we also cultivate niceness.

Enjoy your PIE!

This thread gave me a good laugh. I tell my wife that it is just the culture of the forums. It is different from any others I have been on before!

I'm here for the agriculture and good people. :)

It's a cult in all the best ways.
No secret names, we all use our own. There is a secret language, lots of special skills, and I guess there could be secret meetings.

I've never learned the secret handshake, though. I do tend to test the waters when meeting new people by putting gardens, landraces, and food forests into the conversation.

And we have pie! (Not necessarily better than cookies, but very tasty!)

I think Paul said something to the effect that to be a cult it has to have a religious component.  So for permies, he said if you're good, when you die you'll get 9 more seasons of Firefly.  So, yes, you're in a cult.  And be on your best behavior :)

That's absolutely the best idea for heaven I've heard recently.

Other than reuniting with animal companions and people I miss, *9* SEASONS of Firefly!
Where do I sign?

joylynn, I was out for a walk one day and saw a strange talking rabbit saying something about being late and was soon lost to view.  I soon found what looked like a rabbit hole to me and as I was gazing into its depths, I slipped and fell, for a really long time.  I landed unhurt here in Permie land!!

If "Firefly" was a TV show, last one I remember watching was Hill Street Blues.  Don't own a TV now, don't own having one in future!!!

As always; may you each find your own Peace!

Only 9 seasons? That's for the lower tiers of this heaven, right?

And how fabulous is it that this permaculture family can give Tamara a huge group hug to celebrate her first piece of pie, and many more to come

Niceness is the only Permies quality that is non-negotiable.

When I first started reading stuff on Permies and I read Paul say something about sending people pie, I truly thought he was baking pies and mailing them to people. I couldn't figure out how you could mail someone a pie without it getting smashed up. I even imagined some local Montana pie delivery service.

The actual Permies pie is still pretty cool so I wasn't too disappointed when I figured it out. 😂

Tamara, "what a strange trip it's been"!!

First it was the magic apple, which led to you being stuffed with "pie" and elevated into the inner circle.

Next was like a giazillion more apples.

Then of all things you became a, not sure that I can bring myself to say it, " cult-ists"

And now you are in the "eye" of a bot!!

What's next???

Not sure that I will be able to keep up with you!

As always may you find-

Peace
