I do not pay a lot of attention to the weather.

Dear hubby is deathly afraid of tornadoes so I know when those are in our area.

I saw on the news that the Houston area of Texas was hard hit this year.

Have other folks been affected by the weather?

Any storms or damage?

Let's use this thread to check in so folks will know everyone is okay.

I am traveling right now between Southern Illinois and Iowa.  We are about to drive right into some intense weather.

Not sure if it counts as weather, but our town is currently evacuated because a forest fire.  Been evacuated for two weeks today.  Hopefully everyone will be able to go home soon.  The fire is mostly under control but it was a close one.

Made it safely.

But there were two intense thunderstorms that we drove through.  The bright afternoon sky turned dark gray—almost black.  We had to slow down drastically because of at least 1/2 inch of water covering the road surface while going downhill near the top of the hill!! For a moment I thought we were going to have to stop because of flash flooding.  Fortunately we drove out before conditions got worse.

Eric, glad that you made it home and are safe.

Tim, I had heard about the fires in BC last fall or winter, did not know that some were still burning.  I don't have TV, seldom listen to radio and will not do the so called news.  ( are they still printing newspapers, won't read them) I'm hoping that you get to return home soon and find everything OK.

Mid to upper 80's here, with 70% chance of showers and T-storms later today, with !00% humidity.  Spring in the south!

Peace

I had to laugh when I read this, Deane I applaud your resistance to receiving information from the mainstream media sources. LoL

And as for threatening weather, the Midwest, or Minnesota at least finally seems to be getting enough precipitation to bring us out of a 3-year drought.
We have seen decreases in the water flow in aquifers over the last several years, and that is scary!
Hopefully the precipitation will continue throughout the summer allowing us to cut down on irrigation and replenish some of those aquifers.

Just had the t storm come roaring in, complete with sound effects and light show.

That rain was what we call a redneck car/truck wash!

Didn't have time to move the plants off the deck railing due to the wind, shouldn't have to water them anytime soon.

I only use the National Weather Service, I find that their forecast is spot on, most days.

Peace

I'm in North Texas...east of where the tornado touched down. It blew over us and my son said he felt the house move. I slept through it all. Others weren't so fortunate.

Morning came much too soon and it brought along a friend named Margarita Hangover, and a tiny ad.
