We'll still have both the quick-reply and normal reply buttons down at the bottom. We've had multiple requests from people asking for a reply button on each post. Many can't find the reply button in it's current place. I think a lot of people have been trained by other forms of social media to look for a reply button on each post, and get confused when it's not there. So, in attempts to help these people, we've put a reply button on each post. I think this also helps people on mobile view, too.

I believe there's an option to turn off the reply button in your profile settings. This might be a PIE option (we like to thank those with PIE by giving them with lots of fun ways to customize the site. And, it's their PIE support that makes developments like this possible!)

Thanks to everyone who has purchased PIE (Permaculture Inner-circle Elite), and Devaka for doing all the awesome work, we now have a new development that allows you to customize what tags show up when composing a message. This function is available to everyone who has a slice of pie! Thank you for supporting permies and helping make awesome stuff like this happen!

click the gear symbol on your reply screen to open up a new tab that will allow you to customize your tag menu

When you click the gear symbol, a new browser tab will open up that will allow you to chose which tags you would like:

You can chose to add and remove tags from our entire assortment of tags.

Click the check mark to add or remove the tag from your menu. Use the arrows to change the order of tags in your menu.

Hats off the the programming team! The new composer is a great improvement -- my eyes say "thank you."

The vivid blue background of the "Reply to this Post" button is really distracting though. Any chance we can find something a bit more harmonious with the overall colour scheme?

With pie, you can turn it off.

Go to edit your profile. Under "Pie-only Preferences", select "Hide "reply" button on every post"

This might not be the right way to do it, but might there be value in creating a hover over text box for that blue reply button that says how to turn it off with pie?

I probably wouldn't have figured that out for quite a while.

And once I turn it off, I'll happily forget it and then wonder what everyone's talking about when they mention the "blue button".  That's a different problem though...

I think if we were to try to match the button to the rest of the forum, it might make sense to go with a brown button that matches all of the other brown buttons like and and , but make it bigger.

Oooh, that is very nice.

Though it does reduce the incentive to purchase pie ...

Devaka,
It may be a foible of my tablet?  Half the screen is taken up by the keyboard, and the text window starts OK, but it flicks up if I click inside the text box to correct something, and I am still losing the top 2 lines under the home title strip when this happens.
Thanks.

Nancy, would you be able to take a screenshot of what you're seeing? I'm not sure how to take a screenshot on a tablet, but I know it can be done. It would probably help Devaka to see what you're seeing. Thanks!

I like the reply button but it may make me lazy.  As is was, I read all the posts to get to the bottom and then used the "post reply" to add to the conversation if the point was not already made but used the quote to add to a particular comment.   My one point and others have made it, it to be able to edit uploaded attachments.  In particular, I would like to change picture sizes.  What I do now is to add the picture to a blank word doc. then size and enhance save back as a jpeg and upload.  Otherwise, I end up with a page of pictures.  To format the entire post before publishing would be a great addition.  But the additions have a good feel for me, the shortcuts make sense and are easy to use.

I just replied to a post and tried to include YouTube links, I clicked the "Youtube" button, and pasted in the URL, but it did not make it a link to a video in either the preview or my posted reply.
the thread in question

Hmmm, I think the reason that the first one didn't work is because it's a link to their youtube channel.

But this one (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPf-y6DzwMQ) should work:

AH-HA! I used my magic moderator button unembed the first one, and now the second one works. I have no idea why that is, but, hey, at least we got it working!

I'm looking at the first link a little closer, and I think it's just in a format that isn't recognizable by our system.

When I clicked on it, it took me to this

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBhgge17vw4

Your format was this: https://youtu.be/YBhgge17vw4. Apparently, permies likes the one without the . in the middle of youtube.

I made it never exceed the height of your tablet. Please test again. ??

Looks good on my cheapo Walmart Samsung tablet

I think I expressed myself poorly.
What happens is that everything is OK when I'm typing, but when I need to correct an error, or add something and try and touch (click?) That part of the screen to edit, the editing window jumps up so I lose the top of the editing window into the top menu bar (Home, Subscribe etc.). It's not a problem much for longer posts like this one, but annoying on a new short post.

The only way I can do screen shots on my tablet is to put it in portrait orientation, then swipe the side of my hand across. It will do a funny little blip of a thing, then it will show up in my gallery, like any other pic.
