This thread is to collect feedback on the new interface for the page for typing posts. This new interface is also shared for editing posts and typing purple mooseages.

Do you like it? Hate it? Spot any weirdness? Please share your thoughts on this thread.

Ooh, shiny. I'll save this and then try an edit.

Yes, basic functionality is there and it looks good.

what is javadoc and how/why would permies people use it?

Overall like it.
Something about the font/size? is hurting my eyes for the top menu.  Not sure what.  chrome/windows so it might be that it's very small on my moniter?

I think it's just that the font is a bit too small. It's more legible when larger or bolded. Maybe just increase the font size one size larger for these:

buttons-maybe-one-font-size-bigger.jpg
When I zoom in, they look fine. But, the lines are a bit thin at this font size. Maybe make them one font size larger?

Hmmm, why's the color showing up there, maybe because it's two color codes after another, like this

Does THIS work right? I'm thinking it will. Probably just needed to end one color, before switching to the next.
Staff note (Nicole Alderman) :

Yay, it worked right!

The buttons are the hardest for me, but when I scroll out to 100% on my desktop view, the text box is pretty small. I think having the textbox font a size or two bigger would be nice.

"Font" is not really an accurate label for that drop down menu. I would expect to see different font type choices like Arial, Garamond, etc.

"Font Size" or "Text size" in parallel with "text color" would be better I think.

It's weird fonty-stuff, lol. A bit bigger &/or bolder, in the text box would be good. The buttons seem fine, to me - I think the font is what's making the difference, for me.

This request is totally just me wanting some more convenience, but how hard would it be to make one of the little code buttons say "Center" and do the spiffy [ center ] code? I uses that code a lot, and I often make errors when I type it in by hand *insert embarrassed face here*

(I really like the increased font size in the subject-writing area, and the buttons are much nicer now! Thank you!!)

We use a separate library for uploading images. I'm not sure if it supports object URLs - a thing that we need to show pictures before uploading.

No problem, figured it would be something like that.

I do love how the upper toolbar and the "normal" permies sidebar and advertising appears in this interface.  It looks much more cohesive with the rest of the site.

Is it possible to make the window a little smaller up/down?  On my tablet, when I try and click to correct mistypes etc. I lose my text above the screen and have to scroll down again to see what I'm typing.  It's actually very frustrating.  It seems to be OK once there are a few lines.....

I can tryout some of the font effects with different colours and sizes
I thought that it would work by selecting the text to be changed, but I see not.

This is looking quite a bit better. The select box labels and linked text "What do these tags mean?" could also be bumped up incrementally in size, in my (older eyes) view.

I usually use the "Quick Reply" though yesterday I did use the new composer.

Thank you for making it bigger.  I am not sure how to describe "bigger" but with vision problems, it was so much more enjoyable.

Devaka, it's looking good.

I would love it if it could say what forum I'm composing the post in, especially for a new thread.  Preferably with a link to that forum.

I've got a big long post I just made for a new thread and am not sure I'm in the right place before I submit it.
