I am #1235.  That still makes me part of the cool kids, right? I have been reading / watching much about rocket mass heaters here over the last couple of months and am just about to put it all together. The stove will arrive this week.

I wouldn't have conceived it, let alone be able to make a plan, without the content creators and posts on the forum. I am pleased to be able to help make the movie possible.

Hi Nathan!

That is awesome.  Good for you !   What  kind of heater/stove are you building?

I think one of the greatest things about the free heat movie is that it helps us figure out which Rocket Mass Heater style is appropriate for a specific installation.

Have you seen the new web page for the movie?

Hi Samantha!

I hadn't seen the link...Thank you for it and I ordered the plans/movie combo.  It might have some extra info on it that I didn't glean out of the forum.

On the Meet the Instructors section I was pleased to see that Sky Huddleston's name listed.  It's one one of their Liberators that I ordered.  I needed the UL listing so I could maintain the insurance on my house and I think it will look good where it is being installed.  Also, the EPA certification makes the tax rebate attractive.

If things work out, I will at least post photos in the rocket mass heaters group as I get it done, but may make a video out of it, too.  Will see what happens.

That is great Nathan!

I was thinking of getting the Liberator for my dad.  It is so cool looking!

I love that there is a Rocket Stove on the market with the UL listing!
I am eager to hear how it works for you.

Getting close. Probably ought to figure out another stretch goal. The LTL Movie is such diverse subject matter - what kind of stretch goal do backers want to see?

Another incredible stretch goal is now on the table, with 12 issues of Tiny House magazine - the complete set from 2022. A digital stack of engrossing magazines to get stuck into, these issues are pretty inspiring to help live a more pared-down kind of life.

Somebody posted to the kickstarter that they really, really, really want the next stretch goal stuff.

Is there anything I can do to bump us over this goal?

And I thought that the best way is to tell all the current backers about ALL the stretch goals that have been reached.  So the $100 level is super sweet.  It seems like every time we do this, a bunch of people raise their backer level to $100 and then we hit the next stretch goal!

  - Greenwood Apprenticeship Course from Mortise & Tenon

  - Soil First Gardening movie by Anna Hess

  - Green Planet Films' Sustainable Beekeeping Movie

  - Kelly Hart's Sustainable Architecture Movie

A person raising their backer level up to $100 then gets all the regular stuff at $100 (which I think is a powerhouse of stuff) PLUS these four extra goodies.

PLUS

All of my life I have been baffled how non-profits get millions of dollars.  And so many of them seem hyper focused on telling people about light bulbs and weather stripping.  Really?  Millions of dollars to tell people about light bulbs and weather stripping?  Not only that, but they end up telling about 1500 people total.

Baffled.  So very baffled.

Permies.com reaches more than 20 million people per year.  And we connect 300 million pageviews to those people.  About 15 pages per person.  And it is far richer than light bulbs and weather stripping.

And while those organizations operate on millions, we operate on the funds we harvest from one or two kickstarters per year.  And each person that puts in a bit of coin, gets a bit pile of stuff.  Actually a really sweet deal for that stuff too.

I guess this is my long winded way of saying that by supporting our kickstarter, you also get mountains more of free content - content that is shared with millions and we are having a strong, positive, global impact.

PLUS

We can subsidize the 2023 PTJ and do even more of this stuff.

There are 311 backers at the $1 level.  If 40 of them raised their backer level to $100, we would hit the next stretch goal.

Hi Jules!

You are so right about this.  People who live in tiny houses and all the tiny house ideas help me do better in my normal house.
when people are really tight on space they are so creative with it.

I just found this gypsy wagon in the tiny house forum.

I agree Samantha  And what a lovely wagon that is!

I used to live in a van with my dog, which was glorious – owning outright your living space and having a minimalist approach to life can be really freeing. Even if you live in a more conventional home, you can still benefit from the freedoms of tiny house living - reducing your stuff and being creative with what you have are definitely massive takeaways for me anyway! I think you can reassess what's important, what's not, and what's filling your time with guff that doesn't serve you. I find reading about tiny homes pretty inspiring!

In previous Kickstarters I've backed at a few different levels. I love how it's possible to still get a shed load of quality goodies even at the lowest levels of backing one of Paul's kickstarters. So if you can only back at that level, it is still greatly appreciated and you are rewarded at epic proportions standing in solidarity with getting permaculture out to the masses!

I've also backed at higher levels that are under the $100 level, and maybe not paid much attention to the stretch goals previously. Man! Have I missed out!!! I mean, I've still had my share of AWESOME content, but there are some superb items at the stretch goal level that are so worth pushing the boat out a little further for.  Sail with us in the stretch goal sea!

Thanks to ALL supporters

This is the new kiln you will see in the Low Tech Laboratory Movie!

It was so fun to see Lisa Orr set this up!  She walked us through the whole process.  We pulled globs of raw clay out of the ground and transformed them to beautiful pieces of pottery.   She referred to it as "wild clay" because we are harvesting it directly from the earth.

Hi Monica!

I am really excited we get to do this movie!  Especially for the people who cannot come to learn in person.
We get to share this knowledge and teach these skills to people all over the world.
It is such a gift!

How can we preserve a year's worth of calories with wood heat and sunshine?

Is it possible to preserve a year of food with no electricity?

In the Low Tech Laboratory Movie you will learn many techniques to keep your food fresh and safe in your root cellar or underground.

When we ferment food we change it's nutritional profile.  We can get different nutrients from the same veggies by fermenting them.

This thread has some tips and inspiration to get you started!

I can't wait to show my husband the LTLM - particularly the part about a spinning wheel made of bicycle parts. He is always trying to convince me to throw away 'junk' exactly like that. Vindication for my hoarding habits!!
