Hi Monica!

Yes!  it is neat to see useful things repurposed.   one persons junk is someone else's inexpensive  materials

James Juczak is great at this as well.   He even wrote a book about it.

The High Art and Subtle Science of Scrounging.

I like this tiny house!

It looks like you could park it anywhere and build your permaculture dream life around it.

Here is another interesting tiny house.

This thread has a great set of plans!  you could customize it too.   I love how round structures tuck easily into the terrain.

Can I get some free heat for my tiny house?
Maybe I need a tiny house rocket heater.

This is an interesting design.   could be used in a tiny house.

1384 supporters!

If everyone who has backed, asks a friend to back at just the $1 level, we would be past the next stretch goal! Plus 1384 more people would have access to the useful content available at that level. The $1 list includes:

  • rocket hot tub plans
  • log picnic table plans v1.0
  • log picnic table plans v2.0
  • cool public thanks
  • access to the Secret Inner Circle forum
  • “Kickstarter Backer” icon on permies.com by your name (optional)
  • 10 Podcast Review of the book Just Enough by Azby Brown

  • That is pretty sweet for just $1!!

The kickstarter seems kinda stuck!  So I'm trying to think of something and I came up with a nutty idea  ...

This is gonna go out in a moment ...

Hello backer peeps.  This is paul the very large.

The kickstarter seems to have stalled!  And I am trying to think of ways to get it unstuck so I can work up a big heap of future magic ...   My plans are that by the end of this kickstarter, I will make the $100 level so sweet that 90% of you at the $1 and $15 levels will raise your backer level.  But right now, it looks a bit stuck.

So I've been thinking about this ... all I gotta do is convince 12 people that are currently backing at $1 or $15 to raise their backer level to $100 and we will be on to the next stretch goal!

So I am trying a thing I just now made up.  I'm gonna call it Squirrelybird!  Everybody at $100 (or higher) by Friday at 2 will get three extra goodies:

    Permaculture Thorns draft eBook
    https://permies.com/wiki/123760/permaculture-thorns-Book-Build-Permaculture

Rocket Mass Heater Risers: materials and design eBook
    https://permies.com/wiki/188812/rocket-mass-heater-risers-materials

Solar Food Dehydrator with Rocket Assist - plans
    https://permies.com/wiki/193722/Plans-Solar-Food-Dehydrator-Rocket

I suppose if this works out really well, you will have all convinced me I should do this a lot!

This has been one of the most helpful things for me in understanding Rocket Mass Heaters.  The 5-minute-riser is a game-changer!  And I didn't really understand all the dynamics and other options before this ebook.

I've been a bit baffled at how sales have been strong ever since we released it.  Apparently we might have stumbled on more magic than we though when we wrote it.

My favorite of the 3 'squirrelybird' specials has got to be the DIY Solar Dehydrator Plans. The movie will be inspirational, but this, THIS I can maybe convince my husband to make in our backyard.  (I feel like I should say, "...so I can make it in my backyard". But, hey, somebody has got to do the thinking in this household and contemplation takes alot of time.)

    Hi Monica!

I got to run the Solar Food Dehydrator at Wheaton labs.  It is such a joy to use.
You can easily keep an even temperature all night using the rocket boost.

At the Permaculture Technology Jamboree this summer we used this to dry fruit, nuts, herbs and sourdough crackers.
It is a great way to use the sun to preserve food.  the low temperature drying preserves nutrients and dried food is much more compact.  a lot of food can be stored in a small space without refrigeration.

Yes!  It was so cool.  It was part of the preserved fermented foods we made with Austin Durant.   You will see it in the Movie!

He made a huge pot of rolled oats and other grains, dried fruit, and nuts.  like you might make a muesli cereal.

he added lots of water and the sourdough culture.   He let it sit for a while until it came alive and he spread it out on dehydrator trays about an inch thick.  when completely dry he packed it in air tight containers and stored it in the dark pantry.

I have heard Paul speak about the hard road of building community many times.

So many things that are worthwhile are difficult.

The true value of community was hard for me to understand until I got to experience it at Wheaton Labs.

The community he has built there is thriving with beautiful people.  The energy is so positive.  It is a joy to just be present.

I'd love to hear from some people who have read Anna Hess' books.

We have a physical copy of the Ultimate Guide to Soil, which we love.  I'm looking forward to (hopefully) getting my hands on these other two.

    Anyone read them already?  Thoughts?
