Oh man, I thought I might be backer number one, but alas, I'm number 2.

I admit it.  Life has been crazy so I haven't followed any of the prep for this Kickstarter.  I didn't even know what it was about until just now.  Some sort of movie of something at pauls place.  I saved up a few dollars for it (all the money I would have spent on takeaway coffee over the last couple of months - so it's already helped the envronment)

Now I've seen the video, I suspect this is going to be my most favourite one yet.  Looks soo cool!  And it was fun to see names I recognize from permies talking about nifty stuff.

No way mushrooms are good for stuff - I hate mushrooms, and yet, that blow torch moment... I want to see what happens next!

And the spinning wheel of course.  I heard about it at the time, but didn't get to see it in action yet.

Great work team!

The monthlyish is started.  It should take about 12 hours to go out to 106,000 people.

I don't believe in people who don't like mushrooms, only people who don't know they like mushrooms, yet.

Well, they can be pretty and I hear you can dye yarn with them, so I could possibly be convinced.

But I have doubts.

I was very lucky in that I had just finished giving my lamb her bottle lunch and figured I could spend some time on the computer today.  And isn't today the launch day for the kickstarter thingy?  I'll go see...and there it was, no backers.  How fast can I press the buttons?

Not fast enough apparently.

Still, I'm usually in the 600 range so I'm pretty chuffed I got that high.

Technically, yes - but kinda chewy and bitter.

You can, however, tincture it to fight cancer . . .

The image file name ...  take out "thumb-" and you get

https://permies.com/t/166223/a/205314/Low-tech-lab-movie-kickstarter-thanks.jpeg

which is a freaky high res version.  Be careful with it because it is very big.

Wow, a little over 2 hours since I recieved my first email about this and it's over $14k.

And actually, from the time I logged on, read the cover page and clicked Back This..., it went from $12k to over $14k in less than 10 mins.  That is fast!

for comparison, here is our last kickstarter:

https://kicktraq.com/projects/paulwheaton/garden-master/#chart-daily

25k and 329 backers the first day.  I'm pretty sure this is our best performing kickstarter ever.

I think kicktraq has a clock that makes the day end at 10pm mountain time.

We are at 4:24 mountain time and this kickstarter is almost to 15k and 318 backers.

Paul Stamets wears an Amadou mushroom hat!

And, I am taking partial credit for the early success, because folks just have to know what happens next with the torch.

Gotta hand it to Michael for the cliff-hanger edit, though . . .  The suspense!!!

Yes!!!  I have no doubt this one will set many records, as it has already in a few ways I'm sure.

And congratulations for already reaching your goal, and doing it so fast.

Your next kickstarter should be a course on how to successfully plan, launch, conduct and complete an effective kickstarter project.  You have already talked about it in at least a few interviews, such as TSP, so youd at least have a good foundation for making your outline and notes.

The next kickstarter is going to be an excellent new version of the Permaculture Playing Cards!

I’m sure there will be one on “kickstarter how to” in the future tho!
