I really enjoyed meeting JR this past summer.  He is so knowledgeable.

I would love to see more video from the Low Tech Laboratory Movie.

I wonder what projects JR will be working on next.

I wish I could come out to Wheaton Labs now!   It would be a great time to join the boot camp.

Before we started editing on this project, when I looked through past kickstarters, 80,000 was my guess at what this kickstarter would make.

Now it's surpassed that and with a week still to go! Well done to Paul and everyone involved and here's hoping it finishes strong.

Beau Davidson wrote:Any votes for cob yet?

Hi Beau!

Before I started going out to Wheaton Labs I thought cob was just sand, clay and straw.

It can be that simple but they have refined this ancient building material to an art form.

Through scouting around with an excavator and getting to know the land, they located deposits of different kinds of sand, many grades of clay and subsoil.

They use sharp angular sand for some projects and smooth rounded sand for others.

They even add animal manures to the mix because that changes the properties of the finished product.

Sometimes they ferment the whole mess in barrels until it bubbles.

There is a lot for me to learn in this space and I am looking forward to lots of dirt time up there this summer!

Looking back at all the stretch goals and the knowing about the contents of the movie-to-be, I'm feeling very empowered! I can't wait for this Kickstarter to wrap up, so I can get my goods. Just thinking that I can learn to do all those things makes me feel less at the whim of uncontrollable forces and more in charge of my life. And counting up all the costs of each of the stretch goals, I feel I've optimized the use of my dollars! For $100, I will receive the movie AND $329 worth of extra value! Plus, we aren't even done with the KS campaign yet! If we hit more stretch goals between now and then....

Here's the detailed breakdown:

 $25 Greenwood Apprenticeship course
$10 Saving the Life Keepers - sustainable beekeeping movie
 $20 Sustainable Architecture Movie
$55 Tiny House Magazine - complete 2022 set
 $12 Anna Hess Book Bundle
$49 Mushroom Cultivation Class Recordings from Fungi Ally
$133 Golden Goat Herbals' Herbalism and Fermented Sodas Video Course + eBook
$25  Regenerative Scales of Permanence PDC presentation by Alan Booker

If you all help get the Kickstarter to the next stretch goal, $85K, the diy chicken coops ebook valued at $29.99 would bring the total to $358.99 extra value!

The kickstarter is doing so well!   It is great to see how important this is to people!

It was fun adjusting my pledge to vote in the penny poll!   it is so easy.   but it was only pennies...

I want to adjust my pledge by a bit more.    I was thinking $50.

I want to show Paul how much I appreciate what he does for us.     anybody who adds to their pledge today..  or tomorrow.  come tell me here in this thread and I will give you a piece of pie!

Hi Beau!

Did the flow forms win??    I think it so fun to watch them work.   The sound they make is so awesome!

I love that you can add oxygen to your water.

I love the stories about how Sep Holzer gets his water so oxygenated that he can see the difference in the fish.

I am very excited about flow forms.

Particularly because the odds are good that it will also cover natural, site-harvested cement sorts of processes.

Hooray!

My PRECISE hope!!! I can definitely use the flow forms, in the capacity of better movement for my graywater system, but there are SO MANY, MANY more reasons I'm looking forward forward to the gick-free cement! We live on 29 acres of mostly woods, so both bodgering & roundwood would be great - IF we were younger, stronger, and had the equipment to take down the necessary trees, strip and smooth them. I'd absolutely love both of them, and the rest would be relatively easy, by comparison - but, we're just not physically able. Flowforms will be something I think that will be far more accessible to many more people, and at least here, on our homestead, it's something dearly needed.

I guess we better line it up for the PTJ.  Any flow form experienced folk currently kicking around permies?

Having a look around:

Here's a great list recipes from Jami for various "cements": https://permies.com/t/2309/CEMENTS
Here's the first mention I can find of flow forms on permies: https://permies.com/t/17846/Flowforms
