[Afternoon Entry]

.. cleaning out the fridge, doing dishes, sweeping floors or wiping counters.. things i wish never to do first thing in the morning.. yet after these tasks are done, the rest of the day just seems so much sweeter than it might have sans the chore-doings.. i've heard it said, "learn to love the things you're inclined to loathe, and the rest is easy.." .. it all makes sense now..

UPDATE: there is some sugar in the yogurt, so this recipe is not technically sugar free.. no processed sugar was added.. yogurt may be substituted with water~!

THE FOOD: Here we have a chance to experiment with food.. in this episode, i'll be going for something gluten free and sugar free.. how about PANCAKES?
.. gluten free sugar free pancakes this morning.. small batch: 1/4c tapioca flour, 1/2c oat meal, 1/2c oat flour, 1/4c water, 1/4c yogurt, 1/2tsp vanilla extract, 1/4 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp baking soda, 1/2tsp cinnamon, 1/4tsp ginger, 1/4c cashews (or other nuts; optional), consistency should be pasty (not watery or drippy), pan fry in a flow-y layer of coconut oil (if oil too shallow, pancake will not crisp on the outside, which may be preferable, but i like it crispy; take extra caution with hot oil!), place a heaping tablespoon of batter on medium-low to medium heat pan, (i like them to be about 2-3 inches in diameter and about 1/2 inch in height).. i ate them so fast that i forgot to take pics.. sorry..

.. community living.. this word, "community" was used so much in a business arena i was in for about a 5 year period, and the whole time, i didn't understand the word.. they would say "its about the community.. more than the business.. and without the community, there is no business.." .. though i understood the words, in my mind, the dots did not connect.. and i just knew it was a phrase that felt good, whether i grasped the concept or not.. here at WL, community is also key to the operation.. upon arrival, i still had no idea what "community" meant.. Paul or the others would speak of it, and i'd nod my head, but the grasp of concept was not firm for me.. as we row on, day by day.. with the different experiences of living in close quarters, working together, struggling and laughing together, i understand a bit more.. today i understand the word to mean just that--linked arms, same boat, through thick and thin.. basically all the reason why i wanted to live alone in the first place, many years back.. i suppose i needed the contrast in order to appreciate the outweighing benefits of living in community versus alone.. one of which is diversified responsibility (like cleaning only part of the house, because someone else will clean another part; or when someone makes a meal for several folks to enjoy, while i go chop wood or something..).. it really is a beautiful symphony of dance..

.. turns out i really enjoy carpentry.. more specifically, making shelves.. yesterday was the fourth little shelf that i built to help organize the shop.. something about the geometry, precision, and craftsmanship really lights me up in a good way~!..
.. had some wild dreams last night.. and i actually remembered some of them.. there was one where i shot a pig in the jugular with a pellet gun.. the odd part was that the animal exploded very slowly into a dispersed cloud of jumping spiders.. kind of a nightmare, bc spiders freak me out.. but i wasn't freaked out in my dream.. just walked away further out of reach.. does this dream mean anything? possibly.. maybe at another date.. =D

.. time sometimes seems to go too quickly in the morning.. between building a fire, making/eating breakfast, putting away dishes, feeding the kittens, and performing my morning bathroom rituals, i feel i could use a bit more "doing nothing much time"--but how much of THAT do i really need?.. not sure, but it seems to be something i crave, like a fat kid craves cake.. i've been a fat kid, so i'm speaking from first hand experience here~.. =D

.. xmas eve.. yesterday, josiah, jen and i installed the foyer chandelier.. its built from scratch.. we harvested a tree from WL property, ran it through the saw mill, to create 1x4 planks of wood.. these boards (planks) were then measured and cut, then screwed together in a designed fashion.. light bulb fixture plates were mounted, and wires laid in.. then came the actual placement of the assembly onto the ceiling of the FPH entrance area.. i knew this area needed a light, but had no idea of the feeling of satisfaction that a project like this would offer.. it looks like it belongs here.. its nice~.. thanks, Paul~!
