1 ebook copy of SKIP: A Framework to Connect Industrious People with Elderly Land Owners, by Paul Wheaton and Mike Haasl. The book is all about the SKIP (SKills to Inherit Property) program here on permies--you can find out more here.

Millions of people are blocked from homesteading because of the sheer expense of getting started.  And millions of elderly people are frustrated that they cannot find somebody worthy to pass their homestead to.  Every year hundreds of thousands of homesteads are abandoned - with the government taking possession about half the time.

Other homestead owners are looking for land managers or caretakers.  Or some sort of collaboration.  But their efforts have led to horrific results from dishonest or even criminal people - so their homesteads are, effectively abandoned.

People with homesteads are seeking people with REAL experience and skill.

People seeking homesteading opportunities want to build REAL experience and skill.

This book is an attempt to bridge these two communities.  People seeking homesteading opportunities are provided a way to accomplish hundreds of things and document them for free.  Eventually, they will be able to peruse hundreds of homestead opportunities.   And people with homesteads will be able to peruse hundreds of homesteaders that have proven their worth.

Active homesteaders use SKIP to build their skills for their own benefit.  The verification of their skills lends weight to their words on our forums.  Some people already have land and use SKIP to build their skills for caring for their land.

The descriptions under the 12 and 100 giftcodes do not match the titles.

Thank you! It was a crazy day yesterday, and I was trying to make this while a bit too sleep deprived. Did I catch everything that needed to be fixed?

It still seems to be saying that the higher quantity codes are for the Building a better world book not SKIP book.  That's the links in the white box at the bottom, underneath the green table of contents box.   The description for the single ebook purchase link is fine, but the multi purchase ones are ambiguous.

The eBook is now available as an epub.  A few of the kickstarter peeps have been given access - kinda fishing for feedback on whether it is working with epub readers and if there are any layout problems.

Overall a very enjoyable reading experience! Reads perfectly well on computer but doesn't translate all that well to a mobile device just as a note worth mentioning.
Congrats to the team for all the hard work that's been put in, it definitely shows in the final product!

I'm not able to read it from my device. It seems as though it downloads fine but not sure if this is a software issue on my part or formatting issue on the file.

There's nothing wrong with the file, folks that want to use it on their device will have to download a reader app that will tolerate the file type. Just tried a few different ones and some apps (pdf readers) don't actually recognise it.

I've done just a quick check in my mob reader for a few minutes and this is what I found.

Android 8
epub reader app: Moon+ reader (7.0)

In general it looks good, don't have a problem with resizing fonts, it seems that pictures are in place where they are meant to be, at least what I've seen so far.

Two things stood out re formatting issues:
- bullet/numbered lists: it lists all points with a number one - see first picture below - it can be confusing when reading
- all pictures have small square with 'OBJ' in it before them - second picture below - this one doesn't bother me personally, but can be annoying for some

Specific errors:
I noticed two errors in chapter 22: PEP Animal Care. Note that I jumped in it randomly just to see how things work and didn't read it all, so there is a possibility (probability?) of some more similar errors through this particular chapter and in the rest of the book. Attached are pictures, errors are marked orange
- featured sand badge (at the beginning of the chapter) - it's titled "Cook with a Cast Iron Skillet" but it should be something on building a frog habitat/pond
- link for the "butcher a goat - slaughter and clean" - not a proper web address

That is so far, would have to go more through it....

Downloaded file 01/22/2022

I did some digging on the above issues as I'm seeing them as well.

- the OBJ squares ( ) are actually IN each XML file and could likely just be mass removed.

- The "Featured Sand Badge BB" for Chapter 22 is still showing  "Cook with a Cast Iron Skillet" (same as Chapter 21).  image-41 and image-47 are the same.

- The lists show up as bullets in some readers, numbers in others, and even not at all in my Windows ePub reader - It looks like each bullet point is in it's OWN ordered list (numbers) instead of just a single ordered or unordered list.

Hi Paul!

Thanks for the detailed feedback. We havent updated the file yet so the two little mistakes remain in the file you downloaded.

Different operating systems such as Windows, Linux, macOS, iOS, Android combined with different apps that can read epub files -- and there's a lot! -- will have slightly different results.

I've attached a screenshot of how the bullets look in SumatraPDF.
They look just as large in ReadEra and Moon+ on Android.

OBJ squares still there as well.

I bought it and I'm honestly loving the book.

I'd love to discuss the future of it/ Perhaps a future physical copy ?
And what that copy may look like?

I'd love a sort of checklist book, with space to create physical copies of what I send off to be certified .

If I wanted to take physical pictures of my projects and place them in the book is kind of what I'm talking about.

Perhaps like a keepsake? Something you could show to people in person too.
