Decided to go simple with my first attempt at foraging - a salad with dandelion greens (as well as lettuce and cheese because my partner was not enthusiastic about having a salad with no lettuce at all). The dandelions are from an overgrown lot near where I live, and I got to hunt around through a bunch of plants I have yet to identify to find enough for dinner. I have no idea exactly how much I picked, but the bowl I used holds roughly 4 cups of water, so more than a cup!

At the moment blackberries are not on the list for this Badge Bit. So I don't think the submission would be approved.

I noticed there's an absence of fruit from the list, so I'm assuming the intention was to show you can do something savoury with wild foods.

Chanterelles for lunch!

The dish consisted of two slices of bread, topped with fried chanterelles, a fried egg and some chopped garden herbs (thyme and chinese chives), with perennial arugula on the side. The chanterelles were fried in butter, salt and pepper until golden and fragrant, then a dollop of sour cream and some heavy cream to make them more... saucey?

These are picked in the local forest, just a little hike away.

I harvested red-root amaranth (pigweed) because it was one of the ones I haven't foraged before on the list.

To complete my dish, I squeezed a bit of lemon juice and a homemade hemp parmesan (hemp, sunflower seeds, nutritional yeast, garlic, thyme, rosemary, salt)

Very tasty!

I love that Rocket Mass Heaters are Carbon-Nuetral. In Erica's and Ernies Art of Fire Presentation, Erica explains the chemistry of how that's possible!
I attended Helen's Garden Master Course in January 2022 and give the lectures 10/10 acorns! Fortunately for you, you can also see the Garden Master recordings but unfortunately you'll miss out on the fruit Helen grew and shared. It was the tastiest fruit I've ever had!
