My daughter-in-law, who lives in an apartment, freezes her scraps in a gallon Ziploc until it's full, then brings them over to feed her chickens that live at my house. I'm sure that would work for you, as well, and the gallon bag makes measuring convenient.

the problem is feed chickens- I'm doing the same thing with all my plant based waist given to my bunnies but this meens that the little meat contaminated waist is taking forever to get 10 gal. add to that that I have racoons and other pests digging up where I place it Ruth Stout doesn't work for me.

I generated over 10 gallons of compost over the last week. 3 buckets (about 2 gallon buckets, I believe) I dumped under mulch on the massive hugel beds at Wheaton Labs. 2 more buckets (and a bowl) , I dumped at home, under flakes of straw in my flower garden. All of the buckets were full, so I would say the buckets dumped are well over 10 gallons!

I do the same thing: take a decrepit bucket that already has holes in it from being repurposed from a good ancient plastic bucket to a planter for thai peppers or matts wild cherry tomato that is starting to crack up the sides, place
Dog poo
Which Constable Tonto provides in copious quantities
Place it in the hill on the down side of the tiles bed
And leave it for three years
The flies dont get it
But it breaks down naturally
Then I feed the trees with the buckets
I just place them in rows so I rotate properly
Same idea though smellier compost !

I did the Ruth Stout composting over a period of time from September 2023 to February 2024. With only two people in our house, we don't produce a ton of scraps at a time.

I did this ten times, five times in one spot with woodchips as mulch, and five times in another spot with leaves as mulch. My bucket holds 1.3 gallons. Most times it was almost full. I will put a picture of the bucket specifications. I apologize in advance for so many pictures!

I did think this was an easy way to compost. I think I will make a practice of emptying though when the bucket is half full, so it doesn't get moldy on the bottom.

I filled a 10 gallon bucket full of food scraps and emptied half in one spot and half in the other.

Sounds fishy. It smells fishy too. You say it's a tiny ad, but ...
