That's great! On that first map to do with loving your family, I'm not sure whether to laugh at New Jersey and Rhode Island or Wisconsin and Ohio.

That 2023 map is more what I expected...interesting contrast over a short period.

Depending on what is meant by "protect", one could be in trouble in Canada for following that statement.  Aside from the fact that it has gotten more difficult to purchase a rifle (compared to the other two qualifiers), I'm pretty sure pointing a firearm at a person is a Criminal Code offence.  I just don't have time to be able to confirm right now.

I recently watched a video about the collapse of the Mayan civilization. The presenter's opinion was that the population expanded past the carrying capacity of the land, a drought hit, and lots of people died quickly and the few that survived had to move elsewhere.
Then the land healed itself by regrowing its trees, covering much of the signs of the civilization that had existed.

It seems to me that humans have done similar on a now world-wide scale and that we're seeing the signs of people on a person-by-person level refusing to bring a child into this crowded planet.

Personally, I'm not convinced humans will go extinct from this, but if the population drops far enough, fast enough, there is hope that the planet can heal itself, and the cycle of the rise and fall of civilizations will continue.
