"You are inclined to come up with unconventional solutions."

So that's what this game is about - the one above is for real, and I got it recently, but this is the interweb and I'm not asking for photo verification. So long as you play within permies "be nice" policy, what fortune have you, or would you like to, receive in a fortune cookie?

Let the game begin!

Not specifically permie, but I like the weird one I got a few months after coming out of a long-term relationship with a guy who I later discovered had lied to me and cheated on me - "Only trust the man with freckles."  My ex didn't have a single freckle!

Not long after, I met the man with freckles, and married him.  Twenty years later, he is still worth trusting!

I eat Chinese food, and am weird about keeping any good fortunes I get. So in no order, fortunes that sound like permies...

The wise thing to do is to prepare for the unexpected.

You will soon be part of a team; work cooperatively for success.

Do not let ambitions overshadow small success

All the preparation you have done will finally be paying off!

Nobody ever drowned in their own sweat

Leaders are readers

The greatest of all mistakes is to do nothing, because you think you can do only a little.

I've been terrified of all forms of fortune telling ever since 1960, thanks to Rod Serling.

Wow! It's been a good month for fortune cookies:

Actions speak louder than words.
This is very appropriate when your duck goes broody unexpectedly and you have to spend the afternoon getting her set up safely. Telling her she's crazy - it's only February - are a waste of words!

You are practical and down to earth.
Yes - I've been digging out Himalayan roots for weeks now - frequently with the help of Miss Broody and her mates who are really only interested in the worms!

Your hidden creative talents will soon be revealed.
Got this one nailed, assuming people agree that my new thread about turning sweaters into leggings is creative enough to qualify?

My favorite has always been “The best throw of the dice is to throw them away.”

My “luck” has always been horrible (I like to say I spent it all on the circumstances that got me my husband), so I do everything in my power to leave as little as possible to chance, whether that’s tabletop games or otherwise. I laughed out loud when I got that fortune, since it seemed so fitting, and kept it in my wallet for years until I met someone with even worse game luck than I have. I decided he needed it more than I did.

About a year later, I got another copy of the same fortune!

So this week's fortune is:

You have a great appreciation for beautiful things.

I'd agree with that - it's just the things I appreciate as "beautiful" aren't the things most people would think of. Miss Salty sitting in her nest surrounded by fluffy down to keep her eggs warm is totally beautiful to me!

Life will include pain.  Accept the pain, and go on, or avoid the pain, and lose the capacity to go on?

Which will you choose?

Okay, these were in fortune cookies because, years ago my friends and I used to make fortune cookies.

Is that cheating?

I did say the rule was: "So long as you play within permies "be nice" policy, what fortune have you, or would you like to, receive in a fortune cookie?"

So no, not cheating. I made fortune cookies once also - too much bother unless people are really into the fortune part, which my people weren't!

At the time, making up the fortunes was the fun part!  Some of us got good at bending the cookies, I burned myself and made lopsided cookies, but they were organic, and no trash was generated, or packaging utilized!

"Channel your energy into something positive."

Sewing, gardening, reading, cooking - OK I've got the "positive" part down, but I might need a narrower "channel"!

One time I got a fortune cookie with no fortune in it.
I told the waitress it was very un-fortune-ate.

She just tossed me another cookie and kept on walking.

She was probably just busy. Later, when things slowed down, the clever word-play probably dawned on her and she and started laughing hysterically. -- Or at least that's what I like to tell myself.

Did I interpret that fortune incorrectly. Normally our weather pattern is cloudy and cool in June - nicknamed "Junuary", but  the whole month's average precipitation is in the 30 mm range (a little over an inch).

It rained so hard this morning that as I walked up our farm road to the field, I had to rebuild my micro channels that direct the rainfall off the road and onto the forest or grassy areas to infiltrate. I can't remember ever having to do that in June before...

I was working for 42 years offshore and made a (really) decent income.

2014 I realized that I am never at home, have never my wife, family and friends around me when I need them and was fully controlled by my job.

In a Chinese Restaurant 2014 in Singapore I got a fortune cookie saying:
"Do not let making a living, prevent you from making a life."

The result was, I felt actually living in a golden cage I created for myself.
I felt more poor than people who just make a living.

Now I have a Permaculture farm which I (and my wife) dreamed about since many years and I feel super rich.

I saved a fraction for my pension and all other money I blow into the farm and I know that most understand my feelings:

Wow there is another tree,
Wow we have goats and chickens
Wow another acre bought I can live with
Wow I did my groceries and the cart was almost empty...
Wow is it already 3 weeks ago that I went to the ATM?
and so on and on...

"You will bring sunshine into someone's life."

Being November on the Wet Coast, the literal sense is normally a challenge, but today it was true. A beautiful sunny day with only a few wispy clouds greeted me in the field.

That made up for yesterday's 14mm of rain!

You are sensitive to all that is going on around you.

At the moment, that's snow falling and whispering that maybe I'd better head outside and relocate some of it to a position of less potential energy.

Another good one came my way...

Avoid scattering your energies.

That's a hard one, when there's so many things you'd like to do that it's hard to set priorities and stick to them.

I am fond of these little scraps of paper. I tend to glue them into my sketchbooks and the like.

A good permie themed one:
"Failure is feedback. And feedback is the breakfast of champions."

And the outright strangest:
"Butterflies of sudden delight rest up you tonight."

Power corrupts. Absolute power xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx is kinda neat.
