"Not sure who needs to hear this, but, "perfect" is cancelled until further notice.

We're all experiencing this differently. Don't compare yourself to others.
Don't compare it to "how it was before".

Just do the best you can, & if that varies from one day to the next, that's ok."

"Domestication is essentially the antithesis of kinship; forcing plants and animal lives into an unequal relationship of servitude for the sole benefit of humans. A return to kinship must be at the root of life: the kin we eat to exist, and how we go about eating them."

When someone is saved from certain death by a strange concatenation of circumstances, they say that's a miracle. But of course if someone is killed by a freak chain of events -- the oil spilled just there, the safety fence broken just there -- then that must also be a miracle. Just because it's not nice doesn't mean it's not miraculous.

The fact that an opinion has been widely held is no evidence whatever that it is not utterly absurd;
indeed in view of the silliness of the majority of mankind,
a widespread belief is more likely to be foolish than sensible.

"Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes.
The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo.
You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them.
Because they change things. They push the human race forward.
And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.
Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do."

Listening to a Lex Fridman podcast today I heard this,
and I'm paraphrasing from memory.

"Better to be the guy having the bike stolen from, than to be the guy needing to steal the bike."

It kind of blew my mind when I thought about it.

I think he stole my own thought. I've been burned a few times, and this was always my self-redeeming thought: "I'd rather be owed money, than owe."

And now for something completely different:

“Here’s to the druids, the witches, and the consciousness insurgent.  Here’s to the savages. The unruly, but decent-hearted mavericks who are owned by nobody and smite dogma. The aboriginals, natives, indigenous,  Gypsy hordes who cause sleepless nights for the missionaries and  bureaucrats. The man and woman who has had enough of the spells of  disenchantment cast by the Merchants of Nonsense. The lone gunmen and  women of human consciousness who have built a firewall around their  psyche which no cult leader, politician or brand awareness can ever  penetrate. The last Mohican who still resides in the soul of all  humans.” – Thomas Sheridan

..one of my favorite authors

“What drivel it all is!...
A string of words called religion.
Another string of words called philosophy.
Half a dozen other strings called political ideals.
And all the words either ambiguous or meaningless.
And people getting so excited about them they'll murder their neighbors for using a word they don't happen to like.
A word that probably doesn't mean as much as a good belch.
Just a noise without even the excuse of gas on the stomach.”

Man surprised me most about humanity, because he sacrifices his health in order to make money, then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health and then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he  lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived - Dalai Lama

Starting the week with some Emerson--I have a lot to get done :)

“What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.”

“The mind, once stretched by a new idea, never returns to its original dimensions.”

“Write it on your heart
that every day is the best day in the year.
He is rich who owns the day, and no one owns the day
who allows it to be invaded with fret and anxiety.

Finish every day and be done with it.
You have done what you could.
Some blunders and absurdities, no doubt crept in.
Forget them as soon as you can, tomorrow is a new day;
begin it well and serenely, with too high a spirit
to be cumbered with your old nonsense.

This new day is too dear,
with its hopes and invitations,
to waste a moment on the yesterdays.”

“Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.”

“Live in the sunshine, swim the sea, drink the wild air.”

There are just so many good ones to choose from...

I totally agree, though some things are easy and others are so damned hard and it's often not easy to tell the difference until you start the push...I guess it's like Paul says....try 10 things...
