I thought the same for a second. It's so difficult adjusting to this metric calendar, i still can't believe Paul went along with it...

Hahaha! Oh, I've just sucked at trying to keep up a legit BRK schedule. I think my 1 year anniversary (as a Boot) was like 4th June. I showed up as a SEPPer in early May of last year. Maybe 8th May?

I'm staying on board as a Boot until I have at least 700 posts complete. I'm following in Dez's footsteps on this one, though at my pace it'll take longer than 2 years to reach that point. But then it's off to Ant Village to build and grow stuff, methinks.

BRK #366

Lots of kitty chaos happening these days. One of the mothers has disappeared and abandoned a litter of six kittens, aged a couple weeks. They're so tiny and loud. It's been a full community effort to either relocate (in the case of two of them) and then facilitate their adoption (for the rest), spread between both Basecamp and the Lab. Big thanks to Julia, Dez, Shani and Haile for combining their efforts for this successful outcome...!

Meanwhile...Boot business.

We've prepped some planting spots for apple trees out by the parking lot by Arrakis. We first amended the spots with some custom mix of alfalfa pellets, sawdust, house compost, and a few other goodies. These spots will be ready for trees in either the next couple months (when we put seeds in the ground before the real cold weather) , or in early 2024 when some saplings arrive. It's Paul's call as to what's going in there.

Pictured here: Liam and SEPPer Lisa prepping one of the sites atop the parking lot berm.

Earlier in the day, Liam and Shai cleaned-up lots of leftover and uncut wood down by the Classroom.

The team performed gardening tasks at Basecamp this afternoon. I'm busy looking for pumpkins...

Meanwhile, this wild pea has been curling up this marking stake for what seems like quite some time. I think it's adorable.

That's all for now. Thanks for reading, and enjoy your day...!

BRK #367

Today was a fun way to wrap up the work week. Lots of interesting tasks on the agenda today.

Paul noted that there's a lot of rhubarb that was ripe for harvesting, so Liam, Shai, and I took care of it this morning.

Here's a bucket full of "elephant ears" that I took up to the kitchen for processing.

There's Liam on the left and Shai on the right, chopping up the rhubarb stalks for freezing. We'll make these into jam or soup in the near future.

Once that was completed, we took to the Swede-ified Sauna to continue work on the outer ship-lapped panels.

Meanwhile, cat wranglers Shani and Haile continued work on their cat house. We've needed to increase cat housing lately - particularly with the coming colder weather - and today was their last Boot day. So the two of them were excited to wrap up construction on this worthwhile project.

There's Dez in the lower-left of this photo, who served as construction consultant.

That's all for now. Thanks for reading, and enjoy your day...!

BRK #368

Another day spent mostly bicycling round Missoula. I'll sleep quite soundly tonight.  Photos from today include...

Good morning, Moon.

More lazy clouds, staying in bed longer than me.

Long train of boxcars, carrying who knows what to who knows where. Looked like somewhere points west.

Finally: a "Mad Max" style car, from some outfit named Apocalypse Auto. This looks like fun. Until now, I'd seen some of those accessories only in video games.

That's all for now. Thanks for reading, and enjoy your day...!
