BRK #332
"You might want to grab a photo of this massive caterpillar for your online thing,"
Shai told me. He was correct. This thing was an impressive specimen. After the picture, I grabbed it from the leaf (it was eating one of our trees!) and tossed it into the grasses with revulsion. It felt squishy and clinging in my hand, like the worst DIY children's slime you can imagine. Yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugh.
That was near the close of the day. Prior to that, we did more event clean-up. Chipping away at it, and pleased with our progress. Prior to that, I woke up to this. What's not to love about starting your day with this view?
In the afternoon, we were at Allerton Abbey for some
gardening. Looking for fruiting plants and things to harvest. Maybe this is a volunteer squash? I'm hoping it's a pumpkin instead. I mean, pumpkins are what we
planted...
Here are some budding roma tomatoes at Basecamp.
Over at Allerton Abbey in the afternoon, I marveled at the robustness of the Sepp Holzer rye grain.
In other news, I am simply eating up the short story compilation,
Long Ride Home by
Louis L'Amour. It's stereotypical I suppose for a Montana transplant, but my appetite for this stuff can't be satiated. I am burning through every page. It's a blast...!
That's all for now. Off to enjoy the weekend, and I hope you are, too!
