If you've ever wanted to see the inside of a RMH after it's been used for a while, here's your golden opportunity.

the two with flaky stuff look normal and not dangerous but the las one with the caked on stuff looks like a chimney fire hazard.

To clarify, the old RMH in the Red Cabin wasn't running properly (why it was replace at the Rocket Mass Heater Workshop 2022) but the chimney was not cleaned out until now.

Happy SpoOoOoOoOoky Taco Tuesday to you...!

Thanks to Paul for setting up the original 1984 Ghostbusters in Paul Theatre this evening, after dinner.

Prior to that, the other Boots and I were prepping for our first Half-Assed Holiday tomorrow: Indoor Gardening Day! There were three specific building projects that kept us busy for the majority of our time. This sketch from my planner details some of the measurements needed for the kitchen window, where most of the renovations will take place.

Here's Dez fabricating three shelves that will be in the kitchen.

Cat built this light fixture on her own. It looks great, and works even better!

Tomorrow afternoon, we'll install all these new renovations, and plant a bunch of seeds to be stewarded indoors through the cold season. Looking forward to it!

That's all for now. Thanks for reading, and enjoy your day...!

Happy Indoor Gardening Day to you...!

This is our first Half-Assed Holiday of the season, and I'm pleased with it. Below are a few stills from the video footage I had taken today, which included Dez, Cat, Paul, and myself installing the new shelves, adding the plants for our indoor cultivation experiments, and a little rumination on the project and the reasons for this Half-Assed Holiday in particular.

We concluded today with a screening of Joe's Apartment, a screwball comedy featuring animated cockroaches and a lady who is more-or-less obsessed with gardens and beautifying the city. I feel I must admit that it's much better than I expected.

That's all for now. Thanks for reading, and enjoy your day...!

SEPPer Jeff and I put our heads together this morning in an effort to design the box that will contain these 16 batteries, an inverter, a charge controller, main power switch, like 8 electrical outlets, with maybe enough room for a circuit breaker in there, too.

Found a few more vegetables hiding in the snow today...! Sucks to see these (now, spongy) potatoes be buried immediately but hey, maybe they'll come up next season. I buried them in a decidedly non-potato spot to see if they can perform a miracle. And this pumpkin will definitely be used for seeds, should it prove to be inedible at this point.

Finally: thanks again to Nick and SEPPer Tolin for their work in finishing up the Swede-ified Sauna during the Fall Fest. For whatever reason, I have a special, inexplicable fondness for this building... Inexplicable, because I really can't stand saunas.

That's all for now. Thanks for reading, and enjoy your day...!

A busy Friday, and an excellent way to end the work week.

Started off the day with some renovation and repair at Basecamp. I turned my attention to a few of the "light posts" set up during last year's Day of Light Half-Assed Holiday. One of the ways we kept them stable was to add a wide base to the bottom. So I sliced several rounds from some thick logs in front of the Classroom.

These were added to the light posts that were lacking, and I dropped them off at strategic locations around Basecamp. The idea is that after the sun goes down, walking down the driveway to the Classroom, the willow feeders, or other common locations will always be illuminated in some way whenever a person (or perhaps a kitty cat) walks by.

Here's Dez working on his big blue minivan in Turtle Lot, one of our parking areas.

In the afternoon, Cat and I took care of a solar panel frame. It was a bit of a "hardware headache" but it ought to be finished in short order this coming Monday.

Finally: Cat also took care of packing up our corn harvest for seeding next year. Looking forward to plenty more corn success this next growing season.

That's all for now. Make it an excellent weekend...!
