Hi Mathew, well if the edited videos had been sent to the DVD printer when Paul wrote that post we would still be on schedule, since Paul wrote: it will be six weeks when we send the edited videos to the DVD printer.
There has been quite a few things to do to make it possible for all to get a real awesome DVD set. There have been some bumps a long the way but they're been taken care of.
Hope you will consider even the fact that Paul has had some health issues in the past week that have probably taken him off following the editing and so on.
We're onto it.
I know having backed a project and wanting the prize gets us all anxious, it's normal, be patient its coming

I trust Paul to get the project done or I would not have backed it. What I am asking for here is two things:
1) an update on the project status (thanks for your guess Lorenzo but I would like something much clearer from someone in the know).
2) a possible concession of sending out part of the original 4 DVD set early considering there have been some bumps along the way and there are a lot of patient backers that would like to start watching them.

Sorry to hear about Paul's health issues. Those are almost never fun.

An update from someone in the know (aka ME) : The DVDs are still not done being edited. There have been a LOT of setbacks in the past few months that none of us could have predicted.

Now, paul is in a lot of pain right now due to his cervical radiculopathy so he barely has enough energy to talk to me on the phone for five minutes. So, it's probably going to be a while.

We are obviously really sorry that it has taken this long, but they WILL get done eventually. We will not leave everyone hanging forever. I promise.

This seems to be fairly common with Kickstarter projects. Awesome stuff is promised, and eventually delivered... but it always seems to take far longer than expected/anticipated [and in some cases promised.]

I'm STILL waiting for a release date for Coppice Agroforestry >_<

I'd like to stay angry but instead I wish the Big Guy a speedy recovery. Id rather wait a bit longer and have quality than a fast response and a craptastic product in the end. A great motto to live by " bitch less, do more"

Sending Paul some fluffy bunny get well soon vibes!

I just got off the phone with Paul. He's at the doctor's office. Again, due to his cervical radiculopathy.

We figured we had better give another little message, and tell you a bit more about what has happened.

So, we had a great editor lined up when we started the kickstarter, but when the kickstarter ended, he quit. Since then, we’ve been burning through editors like crazy. We'll hire someone who’s a professional, but then bits and bobs of crazy happen, and then we get stumped again. We are obviously trying to resolve this, we are horribly embarrassed and looking at our shoes as we say this.

But that's just the situation at hand. And paul is still really sick, and it might be a few weeks until he even has enough energy to get back on this train. In the meantime, Adrien and I are trying to work things out with several editors, and it's just kind of stressful and time consuming, but we are doing the absolute best we can.

Thank you all SO much for being patient and understanding about this. <3

In the meantime I bought the 2012 DVDs. I was wondering whether there will be an option to download only certain volumes of the up and coming DVDs. I am only really interested in a few of the volumes, though the pricing doesn't really make it an issue, just curious. Doubtless this has been answered, while watching the 2012s it gets mentioned that one could just buy volumes from the set, or maybe that was a joke.

Yeah, I am not 100% sure about this. I think it might only get sold as a set. But that's just my inkling based on working with paul for 2 years.

Not sure this is applicable, but when I backed the current kickstart, I asked if I could just get the new stuff, as I backed the first kick start and have the 2012 set. The answer at that time was yes, I could just get the new material.

And as far as the delays, I appreciate the update and inside information. I'm sorry it's one flaky editor after another. How DOES that happen? (rhetorical question, no answer needed)

Please don't stress (or let anyone get you stressed) about the delay. Sh*t happens and stress is THE WORST thing for your health. Seriously, it is. Let the love in, disregard any complaints, and PLEASE PLEASE be gentle and good to yourself Paul. The world needs a fully healed Paul more than it needs DVD's by a deadline. Think about it! Sending you love and healing, positive energy Paul...and to you too Cas. Don't let anything stress you, it isn't worth it in the long run eh? <3 <3 <3

I'm so sorry Paul is hurting... the deadline, and 49 other things he does per minute, all have to wait.
When I feel my body getting tight and painful, Sara Ivanhoe's YouTube video, Yoga For Dummies, is my go to thing to get rid of undue aches and pains.
Small stretches, light twists, traction, a rolled up towel to lay on, walks, ice/hot/more ice, massage, letting the world domination go for a while... some even use a little hydrogen peroxide in water (all things heal faster with extra oxygen). Stay off the computer, mill around rather than lounge around, stay warm.

*** If it's going to be complex fix of nutrition, diet, medicine, and science, I like Dr. Frank Shallenberger's Advanced Bionutritionals company approach. ***

Get well soon, Paul.

Interesting...it seems as though Paul's mere existence causes good things and his world domination marches forward even when he is laid up with injury. How you ask? It caused Dean Howard to post this extremely useful information that will help me reduce my chronic tightness and pain. This in turn will make me (and probably others) able to achieve more towards permaculture world domination. Thank you Dean. Thank you Paul (who obviously has super powersl) And thank you Cas.

I'm sorry to post this and I'm sure it's not in the right place or the right thing to do, but I've emailed and not heard anything back. Last I heard the DVDs were supposed to come out last October. I received a survey from kickstarter in November and I filled it out (yes, correct address and everything). I have never heard anything else and I still don't have the 4 DVD set that I sponsored with 60.00 4DVD: 4-DVD set as physical DVDs + everything in GLORY. Can someone help me or bring it to the attention of someone who can? I did try to search about this but didn't find any info related. Thank you. If an admin gets this, then you should have my email and can contact me directly.

I talked to the guy doing the editing today. He told me that the editing should be done long before the PDC starts here. Which starts on May 30th.

I know I put a big part of the day and to working on these. I was passing through notes with Erica about the cob build at wofati 0.8.

Hey Paul glad to see you are up and at least around to be posting. Hope that means you are well.

Am I understanding correctly that editing should be done by May 30th and if so what does that mean for an approximate finish to the project?

That is what the editor told me.

We are making good progress. And the DVDs are getting refined. I think the digital versions will be done before May 30th and the physical DVDs will be at the printer.

Hi, I just came to inquire as to an update on the anticipated release date for the project because I need to get something started in my house before the cold weather is just around the corner (again).

I see that it's hoped to be done by the end of this month; which is actually today. Is there any further update on this now? I've read all the posts and explanations, and I understand that things don't always go as planned, and I'm not complaining. I just hope something can be released soon.

I will need to review all the videos and try to decide on what kind of system I'm willing and able to install in my house. I'm sure I will need to reinforce the floor joists/foundation under the floor where I think I might build a system, but without knowing exactly what I'm going to build, I'm not sure how big it will need to be, nor how much it might weigh. I don't have a lot of free time to dedicate to this project, so I suspect it will take me several months to go from planning to burning wood, and it will start getting cold here in September, so I'm worried that I won't have the information I need in time to get a heating system working before its' needed.

So, with all that said, can we maybe have some kind of preview of the videos so I can start on the learning curve and try to keep to my planned schedule? Surely they must be edited to a reasonable length at this point and something can be released to give us something for all the patience we've shown.

Again, I understand everyone is doing their best, but I expected something last year, and we're almost half done with this year already, so please light a fire (pun intended) to get your trusting backers something for their investment and patience.

Thanks

Christopher,

When you posted this I turned to Daniel (the editor) and said "YEAH DANIEL! WHEN IS THIS GONNA BE DONE?"

Daniel said he would reply.

Yesterday I said "I see you have not yet replied?" He said something about fielding questions or focusing on editing.

The key is that I lurk over Daniel's shoulder a lot. And we argue several times a day about details. He wanted to re-shoot some stuff where the sound was a bit "echo-ish" and I said "no" - getting it out sooner is more important.

I emailed all of the kickstarter supporters that put in $100 or more. Very soon I will create a private forum here and give them early access to fragments of the dvds as they are ready-ish. The idea is that they will have the opportunity to give feedback before we finalize each dvd. It is possible that DVD3 will be available to those people tomorrow.

They are not available right now - but stay tuned to the dailyish. Once we get to the point that we are putting the finishing touches on the last dvd, we will start accepting pre-orders.

I think all of the kickstarter supporters that put in $100 or more will be able to see the "first draft" of DVD3 this morning. I think. I hope. Probably.

I am going to try to get involved in the editing in the sense of actually editing - as opposed to making lots of editing notes and sending those to daniel. I am hoping that this will speed things up.

Can we get a regular, no-nonsense update... maybe once a month?  Like... this is where we are today, and this is our expected delivery date target... even if it's moving, it's something.  Thanks Brotha!
