One of the foggiest days I'd seen so far this season.

Also marked the start of the cold season with an inaugural firing-up of the rocket mass heater in the Solarium. There's a kitty house in there, and I want to make sure they stay warm.

Dez and I continued work on the Lab's pump house today. There's progress on the raised earthen walls that help insulate the structure.

Also harvested some of the Basecamp corn today. Looks like a serious bug infestation, like a bunch of insect eggs, all over a number of the plants. I'm not entirely convinced it's Tar Spot, though my initial research today indicated that it very well could be.

I shucked a few ears though, and the corn looks all right. Still plenty more to harvest and investigate.

That's all for now. Thanks for reading, and enjoy your day...!

In the afternoon, I split all the logs Dez and I made in the first half of the day. Tried out the 10-second timer on my camera, and this shot came out okay.

That picture is messing with my head. Are you levitating? How many points have you accumulated toward woodworkers' Valhalla to do that...?

(it's a new milestone...!)

Happy Friday to everyone out there.

The "turkeynecks" were out in force today. I spotted this rafter while over at the Love Shack, tending to the cob hat.

There are still vegetables growing strong. Seems like the first frost has held off for quite some time now. Here are some cover crop wild peas.

Every day, I wander through the garden and admire these pumpkins. I am holding off and holding off and holding off from harvesting them. This one has a lot of promise.

That's all for now. Thanks for reading, and enjoy your weekend...!

Started off the day RSVP'ing to Paul's last-minute request to join him for the Backathon, and had a blast.

Please consider contributing to the Wheaton Labs fundraiser for the Low-Tech Laboratory 2 Movie, if you haven't already. Thanks!

In the afternoon, I hopped on the bike and attempted to capture some of the autumn sights and scents. It's my favourite time of year.

That's all for now. Thanks for reading - and thanks for checking out the Backathon and the Kickstarter - and enjoy your weekend...!

BRK #402

It's been a nice Sunday, and a pleasant start to the work week.

I walked into the Library today to find a package waiting at my usual chair. The vacuum cleaner's starter switch replacement arrived this weekend! I'm interested in installing this switch sometime this week.

In the afternoon, I started up another batch of sauerkraut. This batch has green and red lettuce, along with carrots, dill, and pepper.

This particular batch is a bit more coarsely-chopped than my previous one from September.

Somehow there was more than what would fit in the main jar, so I put the rest in a smaller jar and added a bit of extra brine.

That's all for now. Thanks for reading, and enjoy your day...!
