Wow so many good stretch goals!

What is covered in the companion guide? Will it have the same depth of information that is in the video course? Or is it more of a summary?

Took me a while to get out the credit card, hah. Backed now. Happily looking forward to learning some gardening know-how.

Thanks for this project! I'm hoping it turns out to be my favorite yet.

I think Spanish subtitles are AWESOME!  How can I help to get there?

How do we reach the Spanish community? I can ask my sister and niece to spread the word, they both live near the Mexican border in New Mexico. Would you be willing to tell Spanish-speaking high schools and other institutions about the project?  Is there someone with links to Spanish communities or city out-reach programs that would love to know about permaculture and growing foods without pesticides?

I'm curious, if the original goal was for the editing of the film, is every subsequent $5000 going to the owners of the intellectual material being offered in each stretch goal? Obviously the film editing itself is not going to be 1000% funded, but the fund raiser is. So that's what I'd like to understand as I consider upping my donation and getting all those 100-level goodies. Where is the 900% going?

First, just to be clear, there are no donations in kickstarter.  If you wanna donate to permies, here is our stuff about donations

   https://permies.com/t/131224/donating-empire

But this is kickstarter.  You put in $100 and you get a whole bunch of stuff.  So not a donation.  Kickstarter, inc. can get really wiggy if somebody uses the d-word.

After all the expenses are paid, we do hope to have some coin leftover.   This is our annual operating capital for permies.com and wheaton labs:

   - most of our events here are subsidized

   - sometimes we record events and some of those recordings become future kickstarters

   - permies.com servers and software changes

   - materials costs for projects at wheaton labs

   - pays to keep the permaculture bootcamp running

There's a lot more stuff, but you get the general idea.  I think we end up doing a LOT with the funds we receive each year.

Cool, thanks for the clarification.  I didn't realize the d- was a nuanced concept, but I guess a safer word would be "pledge."
In other situations you get in trouble in the other direction-- you give a "d" and get a fun prize but you're not allowed to refer to it as goods or service in exchange for money.  hence my confusion.  cheers

I just got this in my email

I will send a $1 check for kickstarter to you, but don't know your address to send to?

First, the stuff at $1 can be offered so cheap because we will process it all in one giant gob.

Second, I get about five checks per year.  And each check must be manually processed by me.  If I received a dozen checks a day, I could probably come up with a pretty efficient system.  But when processing just one, it takes a bit of time to deposit (granted, I can use the app for that, but half the time it says "you gotta bring it in to the bank.") and then I need to manually connect a person to the goods - and about half the time, they did not give me the info i need (e.g. they want digital goods, but they did not provide an email address or anything that helps me connect them to their digital stuff).

If you can get kickstarter to take a check, that's between you and kickstarter.

All of the kickstarter offers are valid only to people that go through kickstarter.  Once the products exit, you are welcome to buy them through our digital market.
