On reading the kickstarter page I am not sure at what level I am going to get info on creating a rocket forge or a rocket hot tub - which are the things that really motivate me! Ok the other cool things do as well .... however, these two are what will make me part with my cash immediately ... it is not clear in the offerings where things are, the offerings are just focussing on the quality of the items I get rather that what items.

Thanks, I love these kickstarters!

Thanks for all the work and fun you put into these.

from kickstarter

Please, if you add early bird stuff, make sure the streaming, tiny download, HD download backers get the same format for the early bird videos. It's probably the most frustrating thing to back a project, up the backing and then find out that several early bird items are streaming only, or it's a trailer video for something that needs additional funds for purchasing plans, etc. Please, full disclosure and mapping to the backer level. Thanks.

I think what you are saying is that last time we offered some earlybird video stuff and it just said "video" and you would feel way better if it said "streaming video"?

here is the graphic from last time

There are four things there that are video-ish ("documetary", "movie", "video presentation" and "recorded webinar").   My guess is that you are cool with how they are presented here, but on the page with the details, for each of these four items we should specifically state "HD Streaming".   ??

No backing level for plans for the rocket & yurt stuff? Guessing you could have something at Glory level or thereabouts with those and get decent uptake on that. I'd back it :)

That's on me.

Andres wants to make plans for all the things.  And I am worried about timeline stuff.  We have to have this project 100% wrapped up by dec 31 or the taxman gets greedy.

I'm excited! 😊

So the joke comes from the fact that the word "Bob" can be both a name and a verb in English.

Bob (verb) to move quickly down and up: to bob the head.

So Bob the hunk of trunk will bob up and down as the wind pulls on the sun shades. Though I think in a podcast Paul mentioned that Bob mostly spins.

I have yet to see bob go up and down.  Alan was worried that the wind would catch the shades and bob would go all the way up.  Maybe next year when we have more shades on we might see bob go up a bit.

Jules Silverlock wrote:Did I hear that Opalyn made a mattress at the last PTJ???  Is that going to be included?

Hello  Jules!

Yes!  Opalyn did so many things this year!
She was just starting the mattress as I was leaving so I did not get to see it.

She made a pillow that smelled gently of organic coffee!   I would love to sleep with a pillow like that!

She fixed a hand woven rug, and wove new rugs on a loom she made herself.

It was great to learn how easy this stuff can be.  I will try to find some pictures!

A movie would be better...

I hope they do this kickstarter so I can share all these things!

I think the plans are more important than the movie. I wouldn't care if the plans came after the fact as long as we get them. Don't get me wrong the movie will be helpful when building all things, just not a stand alone

How lovely! A coffee pillow - I'm not sure if that would have the opposite effect on sleeping though ;) But I think it sounds delightful!

Also, the rug weaving/loom sounds amazing, that's something I'd love to learn about.  I hope this is included in the new Kickstarter movie :)

Yes!
I hope it is all in the movie!

The weaving technique is a new one for me.  It is fast and it makes it so there are no wear points on the rug so it will last a long time.

After the Permaculture Technology Jamboree Opalyn was selling the loom!  So I bought it and the weaving materials.

Sometimes there are a lot of extra perks for showing up at one of these events.

I am working on my first rug!

Don't like that the playback button obscures the numeral but there's not much that can be done about that.
How important is the serialisation anyway? Those that know know those that don't don't care.

Mike Haasl wrote:What are the thoughts about promoting builds that didn't get finished?  Would people expect to see a finished XYZ after hearing about it in the kickstarter, then be mad when the movie doesn't show that project getting done?

Or might that be explained so that people know what they're getting?  Just don't want to "poison the well" for LTLM3, 4, 5, etc...

I think it needs to be made very clear to potential backers that many of these projects weren't completed,  and that some of the ones that were, took several extra weeks to do.

That way, if they are paying with the hopes of being able to copy certain projects, they'd have a heads up that they aren't completable in the amount of time initially hoped for, and that some are just plain experiments to see if previous tries by other builders are replicable and/or scaleable.

As for the ones that didn't happen, I'd feel better about having an honest understanding as to why the project didn't work, what could have been done differently, and how to set it up to work better in the future. That's the helpful type of analysis we can all benefit and learn from.
And, of course, a celebration of those that were successes, and all the fabulous people who participated in all the projects.

It seems like there is still a huge amount of work to do.

I think an excellent guage is:  how many people have clicked on the "notify me on launch"?  And how does that number compare to the last kickstarter?

I'm restarting the "Poor Man's Poll" because out of all the possible images from the footage recorded during the PTJ, I couldn't resist creating some more.

I'll be posting two sizes for each image: one in full size and another in the size that Kickstarter displays thumbnails. Please keep in mind that we want to capture people's attention, especially at the smaller size.

Vote for the image or images you like the most by giving a thumbs up in the subsequent posts!

I'm not sure if this is still open for decision. I just did a few thumbs up on what I think works best and wanted to add a bit of an explanation:
color wise, best are 3rd, 5th and 7th picture - in those letters are in a clear contrast with the background picture and are most easily visible. Other pictures - while those background pictures may be even better at showing what's this about, it's much harder to read the title, esp. on smaller pictures. Either color of letters is too similar to the background picture, or the background picture has too many tiny details just where the text goes... hope this helps a bit....

It's a bit shaky, must be one I shot :(

I might slow it down 50% and stop at the 4 second mark.

It's very very cool how the kickstarter words hover in 3d!!!
Staff note (Andrés Bernal) :

Thanks Mike!

Ill try to stabilize it, I think it could be used in the movie!

Even better!  Wish the lens was cleaner on that camera...

I'd say it would be better still if the green words at the end didn't appear till the camera clears the #2.  Otherwise it kinda looks like a ghost image back there distracting you.

Yay, thanks for the shot and the feedback Mike!

It not the gritty-down-to-earth problem solving I personally associate with W-lab-work.
