We're new to the area and my husband is horrible with directions, so I made him a map of places he likes/needs to go.  Art is not one of my strengths.

Markers include:
Our house
The neighborhood garden
Ball fields
Thrift Shop
Justin's place (it's a reference point since he knows how to get there)
City hall
Hospital
Local Hardware Store
Home Depot
Car Wash
Taco Bell
His favorite milkshake spot
Our bank
Church
The "toy" store

That's a stop sign in the middle so he will go straight instead of turning, and those are supposed to be stoplights (they look better in person).

I’m currently designing a forest garden on our 1/2 acre, a la Edible Forest Gardens. This is one of the observational maps I’ve made of our current flora, some of which is rotting over the neighbor’s roof and some of which is just nasty (30 ft tall 4 in round poison ivy, anyone?).

First: the map.

Second picture shows four places: compost spot, brush pile, makeshift burn pit, and abandoned property behind us. Marked in pink.

Third picture shows the current junk pile, which is mostly trash we’ve removed from the previous owners and some things we’ll be able to reuse (old bricks mostly).

I’m good at visualizing things that don’t exist yet but could, while my husband is good at taking a map or diagram and executing it well but not at visualizing the possibilities without one. Maps are helping us discuss our future forest garden ideas without miscommunicating.

This map looks awesome!! I used google earth and some old city aerials to build my map. But the Lidar looks so clean.

Here's a map with points of interest I made of the now decades-defunct Boy Scout Trail at Mississinewa State Forest in Indiana:

I also uploaded the northern loop of it to AllTrails the first time I hiked it, here's the address to download the KML file:

https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/indiana/frances-slocum-boy-scout-trail

I also maintain the Mississinewa Trail Maintainers FB group that performs trash collection and trail maintenance at the state forest. Here's a few pics of us at work, making our community a better place:

EDIT: Added three of the waypoint photos: A milkhouse, a permanent deer stand, and one of the last remaining gold blazes from the original Boy Scout Trail.

I amended this so that it now includes photos of three features at their waypoints.
