The Sun shows up after almost a week of overcast, Jeff inspects a piece of wood, Steve does the cpt Morgan, Grey plays in the ball pit and the well pumps water again.

library chill time in the evening.
Go with the flow that only you know, and consider the rest as sketchy at best. Far be it from me to try and turn moss into a tree - for moss has a beauty same as carpet has a duty. Call me Apple, I require a minimum number of chill hours to be fruitful and crush.
Wood harvest in the AM along with a couple other routine things woven in. I recently found our gworks brushless chainsaw and I'm impressed - it shreds like my makita, maybe better.

it's good to know all the kits know where to go to conserve the calories.

some raise the roof - we raised the floor. Big rock we dug up all over, then some of the more uniform sifted stuff with a layer of 1/4" size

next step is connecting the pump kit inline.

Some say the mere sight of a full kindling rack warms a person 5°.

A random cirosity iv decided to play around with a little. it was supposed to be a jade ring but there was a fracture so it's a 'c' now.. heh I suppose that still works tho. .

fold down grow shelves for the solarium. Hopefully, there will be enough heat and sun there to have a few fresh herbs going none stop.

I do enjoy thinking through the process as if there's no internet.

figuring it out on a budget seems like a skill worth having.

So I end up with a result that looks like an ancient artifact crafted by cro-magnon man. Gotta crawl before you can walk.

Looks like it made a nice impromptu saw horse. Or maybe i should just attribute that to your inventiveness.

It did but yes hah.. Little techniques learned, big time saving earned.

starting the day off with pipefiting the pumphouse gear. Just need to level the pressure tanke to plumbing gear and get it lined up.

testing the shop batchbox rmh with at least an inch of space at the top as suggested.

nothing but steam this time, an uber clean burn.
IMG_20221031_132708.jpg
starting the fire in towards the riser and letting it burn back to the door may have also been a factor. The flame.is self regulating then in way.
IMG_20221031_132735.jpg
it was nothing but steam the entire way thru.

there are many factors that change as the drying process happens within a newly constructed rmh.
IMG_20221031_144124.jpg
The red cabin rmh having a lot of trouble as its plumbing experiences inconsistent temperatures due to the drying process of the cob materials used.

A little extra air to help things along a bit fastor.

We spent a little more time drying out the red cabin this am. The draw was significantly better just from yesterdays session.

a little bit of drystack today as extra precation for the shutoff valve in the back.

That's four sides and the pump gear is locked in. We'll rap it up, put a lid on it and plumb in the power next. Not all at once, of course.

whether it be the insulation mods done to the red cabin last year or the mass of the new rmh, I think this is going in the right direction. The heat had been turned off at 10am the day before and 8am it was 62 inside and 37 outside.

everyone wants to be the cat feeder until they turn into kingkong vs cats.
IMG_20221102_083511.jpg
I think the red cabin rmh is going to be a strong win once it's all cured and settled in. like here at the start it had a fair amount of draw.
IMG_20221102_112601.jpg
Granted the red cabin isn't much square footage but I had to break a 100f today. The faster it dries out the sooner we figure out how it wants to behave.

These jtubes are a no brainer build for all kinds of stuff. The right ratios and some relatively recent jumps in insinuative materials to build one - easy but effective.

I'd been looking forward to the weather and schedule lining up so we could smooth our roads out a bit. They were pretty tough on vehicles and their occupants since they turned to mud last spring.
IMG_20221103_163503.jpg
While I was grading the roads with the box blade the rest of the crew were doing the really important stuff. Filling in around the pumphouse became an asap priority with the temps dropping out the last night and winter's imminent arrival.
IMG_20221103_163518.jpg
This section of road is full of rocks that end up getting unearthed by the box blade and making it seem worse sometimes. I hope to use the rear blade to kick them all off to the side of the road while I'm shaping for the finishing run.
