No quick way to make a hole threw that thick of a log, even with power tools. It's not quite there but it's close and it stands surprisingly solid.

I need a way to make a guide for our band saw. I clamped a couple 2x4 down to maintain the level.

long story short - these 2x4 let me use a speed square to set a guide with clamp or screw for bigger projects..

A table saw can do a ton, a band saw can do a lot but both of them can do just about anything.

Taking a practical project and adding a little art and 'give a spit' to it. Also, some new experience to add to the belt.

With the subzero temps back in town we find a job or two inside or at least mostly. The solarium has come long way and it's a reasonable 50°.

I like the way this project is turning out. Compared to some of our other bunks, I think we used a fraction of the materials and have some significant design improvements. net+

If you need more inside projects, putting some storage up for the top bunks would be nice.  A place to keep some clothes, phone, towel, etc was a need I had up there last summer.

There's a couple things going on here and they don't both get first chair.  The bunks are designed for  "Narrow Twin" mattresses - spacial constraints are at the core of it all.  The other bunks are designed to have the lower bed basically on the floor and my bed isn't a rag and I'm not vacuum so I raised it and we added a storage rack for duffel bags and backpacks to keep most of your stuff, close enough.

The shelf idea is a good one tho, it'll be a little trickier on the top bunk but I think the dimensions of the stuff your suggesting is solid feedback.  I'll add it in the build and see what I can do.
