There's a couple things going on here and they don't both get first chair. The bunks are designed for "Narrow Twin" mattresses - spacial constraints are at the core of it all. The other bunks are designed to have the lower bed basically on the floor and my bed isn't a rag and I'm not vacuum so I raised it and we added a storage rack for duffel bags and backpacks to keep most of your stuff, close
enough.
The shelf idea is a good one tho, it'll be a little trickier on the top bunk but I think the dimensions of the stuff your suggesting is solid feedback. I'll add it in the build and see what I can do.
Go with the flow that only you know, and consider the rest as sketchy at best. Far be it from me to try and turn moss into a tree - for moss has a beauty same as carpet has a duty. Call me Apple, I require a minimum number of chill hours to be fruitful and crush.
