I decided to go with a wedge shape handle that snugs up as the handle is driven in. I added a little PVA for extra support.

Another half @ssed holiday here and gone - cat house day.  While Grey and the rest of the crew scrambled to build a cat house that would dwarf last years, I had a different task -  whip up a lasagna in honor of todays patron saint Garfield..  Having had a try at it last year, I was up for the challenge to try and make an even better one.

Not a big job but it was made a little less easy by half of our ten footers being a generous 1/4" longer.. great, for most other projects that don't use full length boards.

Hopefully, if the somewhat ambitious idea of having a roof that pivots open on a log hinge is a little difficult to grasp, these pics will help bring the idea together.

We start the notching for the 2x4 roof to seat into the log. Jeff has done more of this than I have and set the chalk line guides.

This roof is going to get heavy once the 3/8 shingles are attatched, so I'm rounding every option towards more leverage.

Hi Caleb. I didn't know it was already the time to sow seeds of mustard greens, parsley, dill, etc. They look good on your photos. So I'll do my best to find time to sow them here too.
