Oooh, new toystools!!!  I'd carve the hollow first, then whittle away everything else until it looks glorious.

Hey Mike, R took a look and gave it her approval. So I'm going to go ahead and continue with my two current tasks:

- combing through Sand-level, to ensure all Sand BB's exist (anyone in a badge, feel free to tell me to keep out)
- creating sub-forums for each aspect/badge, and shuffling things around accordingly

Yes, It's very much possible to have an image be a link. That bit is coded as HTML.

R gave the green-check-mark-of-envy-and-approval to my adding the badge image to the individual sub-forums. So I've taken that as a cue to continue that.

I'll be interested to hear Paul's thoughts on dressing up the main PEP page.

Awesome!  One detail that may or may not matter is that we want the software to eventually auto link your badges in your signature to the post where you asked to be certified for that badge.  So if someone clicks on your Rocket badge, it takes you HERE.  So that link would be different for each person's signature line badges.  Hopefully what you're talking about would be separate and not affect those plans.

Give me a few days & I'll remedy that DC stuff. My data usage is right on the edge of needing a renewal & trying to conserve for a few more days until I have time to jump through that fun new interweb no cash no stores hoop. The last 2 pix in the BB are definitely wrong, for the reason Shawn stated. I don't watch videos so have no idea about that first part.

The first two videos are talking about (what looks like) normal electrical work. The third video is for sure talking about 12v wiring; though to a "normal" 3-prong outlet. Not sure if that's the intent.

I poked through about 6 electrical Straw BBs last night.  I had a few where they were a combo with Plumbing.  So I wrote them up this way: https://permies.com/wiki/138324/pep-electricity/PEP-BB-electricity-straw-shallowpump#1085034

I figured there would be another BB in Plumbing for the same task but it would focus on the plumbing side of the job.  

That way if someone is in a place where they can do one portion of the job but need a licensed pro to do the other part, they get the appropriate credit.

It also had a range of points so I listed out how the points should be awarded.  This is to help the evaluators to have an easier job when they have to award points.  If you're doing a BB and you don't have a guess as to how the points should split up, just leave a note there asking for help and hopefully someone will fill that in for you.

Well then, the vids might be appropriate IF we show some appropriate DC outlets & plugs & properly explain the need for using those. It's a safety thing.

If someone accidentally plugs a 12 volt device into a 120 volt outlet it will get exciting fast, in a bad way. The basic idea is to physically prevent that from happening.

It's best to get videos that properly show what we want the BB to be about.  Every little detail doesn't need to be correct or applicable but we don't want to show a dangerous amateur attempt as our example.

In a call with Paul this morning, we decided to change how the titles of BB posts should be.  Instead of:

PEP BB gardening.sand.hugelkultur - build a hugelkultur

We're going to go with:

Build a hugelkultur - gardening.sand.hugelkultur PEP BB

Same words, just a different arrangement.  It should look better when scanning the forums and if people are searching for it on the google it may look more clickable.  I already updated the directions in How to create a BB page for PEP

I think I'll be able to post some suitable DC connectors tonight. What else might that thread need? Sorry but I just can't watch videos for the foreseeable future.

Should I modify the existing PEP wiki or use bits of it to make my own pending approval from Mike or Paul?

You can modify the existing BB with new pics, delete the incorrect videos and change any text, requirements, etc that you feel would make it better.  Let us know once you're through with it and we'll give it a look-see.

It's in a usable state now but I do want to work on it again soon to make it better & more useful.

Added some useful links & read the previous links closer. Still can't watch the video in one of the previous links so it might be wise for someone to verify that isn't something inappropriate. Other than that I'm comfortable that the DC outlet BB is good to go.
