Sew a patch - PEP BB textile.sand.patch

I patched a hole in my cotton T-shirt using cotton thread

Thanks to Opalyn's help in troubleshooting my sewing machine, I was able to get my first BB in textiles done! This was just in time because the overalls that I wear nearly every day got themselves a hole somehow! I sewed a large piece of jean scrap into the knee pocket -- I'm not sure if I'm describing that well? Now my knee has three layers of canvas/jean material.

In this project, you will sew a patch onto one of the following:
  - the knee of pants

To document completion of the BB, provide proof of the following as pics or video (< 2 min):
  -  Show your holey fabric, patch, thread, and needle or sewing machine
  -  Show your patch being sewn onto the fabric
  -  Show your completed patched fabric
  -  It doesn't have to be pretty but it does have to be functional.  Finish the edges of the patch so it doesn't fray.

Clarifications:
  - All textile badge bits require natural fabrics and threads, such as cotton, wool, silk, linen/flax, and nettle. Synthetic materials are not allowed, even if they are recycled or repurposed.

alright. first time attempting to post a thing, here goes. I just found out about the Skip project and I feel late to the party but here's my first entry. Patching the knee of my pants. First Pic of hole and what I used to do the mend (pins and an iron were also used)

I sewed a patch onto my very favorite fisherman pants. The tie wore a hole in the fabric where it attached to the waistband.

I used a little scrap of cotton calico I had on hand for the patch.

Now it's ready to clothe me again in vigorous activities! Who knows - maybe fishing.

My very worn linen bedsheets have a big rip. Patch is a linen scrap. Thread is 100% cotton.

This is a quick patch, and the whole bedsheet is worn quite thin so I'm not sure how long it will last. But we might get a few more wears out of it before it goes in the scrap pile, so it's worth giving it 10 minutes of work.

Ripped cotton cargo pants. I had a scrap of cotton bed sheet that the dog ripped up trying to build a nest. Here I am patching it with some cotton thread. I sewed the patch on and then realized it was a little large so I also sewed around the rip. I like the look of it.

With two little boys, I'm never at a loss for pants in need of a patch!

For the patch, I found a similar-colored piece of cotton-linen blend, folded it over, and stitched around to edges to keep it from fraying. Then I turned the pants inside out, pinned the patch in place, and stitched around the patch's edge to ensure his toes don't catch on it when he pulls on the pants. Then I turned it inside in and stitched around the hole to ensure nothing catches on *it* and rips it bigger.
