The rug by my front door needed a good shake for all the dust. I shook it, beat it, and rinsed it. There are a few spots, which I scrubbed with a bristle brush and water.

It was time to beat a rug.  I used a home made rug beater and was shocked at how much dirt and dust came out of the rug that gets vacuumed regularly.

I’m here at Wheaton Labs!
Today, as part of nest labor, I cleaned up the solarium for our new boot, which included cleaning the rugs. Here’s two out of half a dozen or more.

I took them out, shook them out, beat them with a stick, laid them in the sun, then put them back! Ezpz :)

To complete this BB, the minimum requirements are:
  - clean an area rug
      - take rug outside and beat it
      - let rug sit in the sun for at least two hours to kill dust mites and other nasties

To show you've completed this Badge Bit, you must provide:
   - a before picture of the area rug
   - an action shot of you beating the rug
   - an after picture of the rug after at least 2 hours in the sunlight
   - a description of any additional procedures in cleaning the area rug
   - OR a 2-minute video of you doing this

I've had this rug for 12 years, it was handmade in Colombia and I purchased it from my neighbor when they were moving. My neighbors previously had it mounted to their wall as art so I also mounted it to my wall until 2 years ago when I placed it next to my bed to be used as a rug. I love this rug and I've never cleaned it before! This rug wasn't very dirty, as I keep it in a very low traffic area, but it's been over a decade since this rug has seen the sun and at least half a year since it was shaken.

I first shook the rug, then I beat it against the snow, then I let it sun in the snow for 2 hours, then I flipped it after 2 hours, then I hung it to dry on my clothesline.

I cleaned an area rug from work. I brushed it with a broom head, beat it hard until no more dust fell out, spot-treated with vinegar and water, and hung it in the sun for a whole breezy day.

Cleaned all of our rugs. First I brushed all the hair off with this neat tool that's basically a threaded rod on a stick. Then I took them all outside and beat them with a tennis racket that we purchased for exactly that purpose and I laid them out in the sun for about 2.5 hours. I found the perfect branch outside that fit the rugs perfectly.
