Where did the day go...?!?!? First day with three new Boots plus a SEPPer who wanted to join in the day's festivities. Paul is preparing for the Western Montana Fair, which begins tomorrow. Three new SEPPers arrived, staying at both the Lab and Basecamp. It's been a busy day.

Here's new Boot Scott showing this impressive thistle what's what. Nice work, man!

Meanwhile, here I go, stabbing myself in the leg with a section of rebar.

The Log Picnic Table v.3 is loaded and ready to roll out to the Fair with Roy, our daily hauler pickup truck.

Uncle Mud is here too, and brought along a two-piece rocket core to demonstrate to the masses. Yep, in the dead heat of the summer. I guess everyone likes to burn stuff, no matter the time of the year...?

That's all for now. Thanks for reading, and enjoy your day...!

Those are some great exhibits for the fair. Yesterday was a bit overcast and cool here, so hopefully the cool weather makes it to Montana just in time for a rocket demonstration!

Well, we made it through the rain with the picnic table loaded on the truck. Kind of a rainy morning, and that didn't help with the weight, and yet we put it in the perfect spot. In this photo, new Boot Chris and Paul consider our work.

We made a second trip, also bringing Mike Haasl's shaving horse, some green wood and drawing knives, and a bit more firewood for the rocket stove and a J-Tube demo.

Before we left, I picked up a new belt buckle. I just had to pose for a photo to show it off.

Finally: after a good look at the gardens, I think it might be time to make some rhubarb jam once again. Despite how well they endured the heat of July, these stalks ain't gonna eat themselves.

That's all for now. Thanks for reading, and enjoy your day...!

The current Boot team considers our options for finishing the rear gate of the Fisher Price House paddock. From left to right: Chris, Scott (with doggo Zen), and Ollie.

We completed the repairs after all, then rebuilt the junk pole fence next to it. Scott adds the finishing touches.

Did some tinkering with the Log Wizard-Wizard-Wizard today. Here's what one of the blades looks like when it's removed from the rotating barrel.

The squash plants are looking exceedingly good on the Boots GAMCOD hugel berm over at Allerton Abbey. I was hoping we'd have a pumpkin or two in the mix, though based on these sprouts it's not too likely. Not complaining, however.

Speaking of babies, the Willow Grove we started over by the Abbey is still holding up. Here's one of the baby willow trees during a routine check-in.

Ain't nothing that says "late summer" like a big-ass, fat bumblebee. This one is scoping out the chicory up at the Abbey.

That's all for now. Thanks for reading, and enjoy your day...!

Here's the rough cut of this week's update for the Boots' hugel berm GAMCOD project. Hope you like squash. Also seeking advice regarding our potato plants.

That's all for now. Thanks for reading, and enjoy your day...!
