Can we get an update on how everyone's doing?  Or at least the folks that have brought in at least $50?

Yup.

Yury Smirnov is making some good progress.  Way to go Yury!  What can we do to help you reach more folks?

Most other folks have less than $50 or only 1 backer.  Which is probably my fault, not yours.  Meaning, how can I help?

I'm finding that it really takes a lot of mentions for something like this to start registering with people.  Like a dozen or more impressions.  Then, a well-crafted and timely "linchpin" promo can open the floodgates and creating exponential growth.  But you never know which one will be the tipping point, so you gotta just keep plugging away.

Mike, what did you learn from the SKIP kickstarter that you can pass on?

I think I learned that if I was involved in the project (ie a coauthor) it was easier for me to sell the kickstarter to my peeps.  When I'm trying to get them to jump on something I wasn't involved with, it's harder for me to put a strong sales pitch out there.

I'd hope that many of the RMH instructors are pushing this hard to their people.  If not, it might be worth contacting them to encourage it.  They should have the buy-in to get their contact lists interested.

Thanks for the offer Paul but I'm still working on the last one ;)

I've had a few requests to publish and update a table showing how people are doing.  Everyone cool with that?  If you're pursuing the kickback, but want your name to stay off the table, just let me know.  If you're not pursuing the kickback, your name won't show up anyway.

So far, I'm just including folks with more than $100 or more than 1 backer. it's a short list!

Picking up steam, David!

How are you sharing the project, out of curiosity, and with whom?  Might give the rest of us some ideas.

I have a decent sized following on Facebook and Instagram due to my work as an artist.  Because these venues are important business outlets for me I make a point of not constantly pushing things looking for financial support.  I don't want to turn people away from too much of that sort of thing.  I want them following me because they are interested in my art.  To a certain extent people are also interested in the life of the artist so I do sprinkle in posts about other things in my life.  I think because of this approach my followers are more likely to take note when I do promote a kickstarter.  I still try to do it in a "soft" way, not looking to do a hard sell pressure approach.  In this case it was an opportunity for me to share my own RMH now that I finally did all the finish work.  I included info about the kickstarter as almost a side note to the post.  Then when people do comment I try to engage and offer replies if I have things to say.  The goal was to get a conversation going about RMHs.  In theory this generates interest in general and the link to the kickstarter is right there as an easy way to go a bit deeper if they wish.  I also link to my own blog post about my RMH build.  I'm embarrassed to admit that it only just occurred to me this morning to add in a note on that blog post that the kickstarter is going on with a link to it!

I'm also part of a couple other on-line communities which are into many of the same issues as we are here at Permies, though often with slightly different emphasis and angles.  A framework I've found good for this is Chris Martenson's 3 E's, The Economy, Energy, and the Environment.  They are all interrelated.  His site, Peak Prosperity, tend to look at them from a macro view, while I see Permies dealing with them from a micro household level.  Due to all the censorship these past couple years he had to seriously cut back on what he covers on the public side of his site, with more robust discussions happening in the private paid membership side.  I'm a paid member, but don't usually comment much.  Thus I didn't want to just start a discussion thread promoting the kickstarter.  That would be a bit spammy and likely wouldn't get much attention.  I don't think it would have been deleted because the info is very relevant to that crowd.  Instead I waited until after new content was put out where RMHs would be directly relevant to the topics covered.  Since we are currently in the active midst of an energy crisis, supply shortages, and governments going crazy I knew it wouldn't be long to wait.  They are more actively looking for ways to prepare for what is barreling down at us.  When the opportunity came, I again shared my personal experience with RMHs, extolling the virtues of them, offering links to my own build and the kickstarter "that happens to be going on right now".  Then I've been checking in to respond to any comments, looking to generate that genuine dialog about the topic more so than the kickstarter.

I  would think that there are lots of on-line communities right now with people concerned and trying to "prep" for the coming hard times.  It's not too hard to see they are on the way.  The increasingly empty shelves at the stores should be a good clue if you missed the rising gas prices!  Rocket Mass Heaters are a real potential solution for many regions of the world.  So if people are part of these other on-line communities it might be worth dropping in a comment or two.

Another talking point I've been thinking could have a strong impact with those concerned about a future world where fossil fuels are super expensive if not unavailable is cutting firewood by hand.  It can and will certainly be done.  The question is would you prefer to cut 10+ cords of firewood a year by hand, or even with a chainsaw if you can power it, or would you rather need to only do 2 cords or less if you have a RMH?

Quasi-related bit of permies-oriented profitable endeavors - Paul just made a couple cool tweaks to the website for anyone to participate in the affiliate program:

1) PTJ ticket sales affiliate rate is now set to 50% - meaning if you sell a PTJ ticket with your f-code, you earn $825.
https://wheaton-labs.com/permaculture-tech/

2) We're now processing Wheaton Labs bootcamp fees through permies digital market too, so if you promote the bootcamp with your f-code, you'll get $50 for every person who joins the bootcamp waiting list via your url.
https://wheaton-labs.com/bootcamp/

Anyone need help getting set up with an f-code? It's so easy, I signed up by accident a couple years ago.

Mike, as far as I can see, there is no way for me to see what, if any, referral code was used by a backer - at least not until after the campaign ends.  Maybe something is available in the backer report after the end of the campaign, but I don't know yet.

Staff note (Mike Haasl) :

To defend my low number a bit...  My personal pledge didn't count against my ref code somehow so please pretend my line has 3 backers and a bigger number on the right

Kickstarter says they sent us coin yesterday.  My bank says "no they didn't"  ....   it usually takes a few days until the funds show up.

And then i push a big piece to my paypal account to do payouts.
