I started making photos for this BB. But it will take some time before I'll have used 3 gallons of dishpan water to water plants! I measured the water I used for washing the dishes once and made a photo of the measuring, showing 1 pint. In the dishpan is about 4 pints of dishwashing water. I searched the internet to know how many pints in a gallon, it says 8. So I need to do 6 times washing the dishes in total for this BB. Making photos every time probably isn't necessary ... is it?

Hi Inge, Thanks for asking. I think that taking the photos each time is necessary, to show the full volume has been achieved.

I had to do something similar for my Ruth Stout Composting. So I made a separate thread with all my photos, and then posted a link to that thread in the BB thread.

Here's the thread with all my photos: https://permies.com/t/147818/Ash-Ruth-Stout-Composting-BB

Here are my photos for the dishpan water. We use ecoleaf washing up liquid which is septic tank safe. The washing up bowl is 6l, so 3 were needed to get over 3 gallons of water. I can see this being really useful when we have dry periods as we don't have much storage for rainwater.

Staff note :

Is that wash up liquid really biodegradable? It says septic safe and to call poison control if you ingest it...

Staff note :

The link below states "biodegradable" so I certify this BB is complete.

It took me almost a week, but I did it! Made photos when washing the dishes, measuring the used water and putting it in the waterer and then a photo after I watered 'something' with it.

To start with: the biodegradable dish soap:

Link: https://www.ecover.com/

First day:

Washing the dishes

Measuring the used water. This is 1 pint. Four of these go in my dishpan. So that's half a gallon. That's why I have to do it during 6 days.

Watered some plants, using the dish-water.

Second day:
To make it shorter I don't show 'washing the dishes' anymore. If you want to see it: it's in my 'secret' personal thread.

Dishpan with water, 1 of the 4 pints in the measuring can.

Watered some plants

Third day:

Dishpan with water etc.

Watered some plants

Fourth day:

Dishpan, water, etc.

Watered some plants

Fifth day:

Dishpan, water, etc.

Watered some plants

Sixth day:

Dishpan, water, etc.

Watered some plants

It happened to be the right time for doing this. No rain at all during those days. I'll go on until there's rain again ...

Here is my submission for the Grey Willow - Sand - Use Dish Water to Water Something BB.

To document the completion of the BB, I have provided the following:
- a picture of the dishpan with water
- a picture of the at least 3 gallons of water being used to flush a toilet or water something
- a picture and link to the verifiable biodegradable dish soap.   I used Desert Essence Castile Liquid Soap for scrubbing the sinks and metal counter.  The soap is biodegradable.

Here is my BB attempt!

Doing dishes:

Flushing Toilet:

Dishsoap #1 Used:

Unscented Co Dish Soap

I didn't know how much 3 Gallons was (Silly Canadian!) so I did it twice just to make sure:

By then I has switched dish soap. I get it refilled at a zero waste store so I guess you'll have to trust me based on the bottle:

Wasn't sure how much 3.5 gallons was so I think this enough, maybe. I left the top one all day so it would be enough 😅

(This is my second BB for grey water so might need an air badge...I also never got a textile air badge after my first one, is it after two?)
