Martin Yan, of Yan Can Cook, used to always say to wash the rice to get rid of "foreign material".

Stovetop Rice

2 cups of rice, rinsed
3 1/2 cups of water

Placed all in pot, bring to boil.  Cover, turn down to medium heat.  Let simmer 10-12 minutes.  Remove from heat and let stand 10 minutes.  Perfect fluffy rice.

Brown rice on the propane cookstove.   2 cups dry brown rice, a quart of chicken broth.  Boil vigorously,  add more water as needed to prevent burning.  I ended up adding another 3 cups to get the consistency I wanted.  Yummy!

Oatmeal day! I used half water half milk for my liquids and threw in some cinnamon and salt. I cooked three cups of oats for our breakfasts.

I was able to cook some nice brown rice yesterday. I was overall really simple. I believe I put a little too much water in but, I turned out well in the end.

I cooked up a batch of quinoa for dinner and meals this week. I started with 2 cups of quinoa and 800ml of water. I added vegetable stock concentrate to make it more interesting. Cooked on our induction hob for 20 minutes. I ended up with more than 4 cups of quinoa - it puffs up alot!

If you two don't stop this rough-housing somebody is going to end up crying. Sit down and read this tiny ad:
