Please join me in welcoming Leigh Tate, author of 5 Acres & a Dream

Read the book review here!

Leigh Tate will be hanging out in the forums until February 21st answering questions and sharing her experiences with you all.

At the end of the week, we'll make a drawing for 4 lucky winners to win a copy of her book! From now until Friday, all new posts in the Homestead forum are eligible to win.

To win, you must use a name that follows our naming policy and you must have your email set up to receive the Daily-ish email. Higher quality posts are weighed more highly than posts that just say, "I want this book!"

The winners will be notified by Purple Moosage and must respond within 24 hours. Only the winners who respond within that timeframe will receive their book. Watch for a PM, and a notice in this thread announcing the winners!

Please remember that we favour perennial discussion.  The threads you start will last beyond the event.  You don't need to use Leigh Tate's name to get her attention. We like these threads to be accessible to everyone, and some people may not post their experiences if the thread is directed to the author alone.

Posts in this thread won't count as an entry to win the book, but please say "Hi!" to Leigh Tate and make her feel welcome!

Hi Leigh,

The title of your book really resounds with me as we also have 5 acres and a dream. We bought a 5-acre property in France 3 years ago..
Best,
Rebecca L

Welcome Leigh!
We tried with 5 acres but other obstacles interrupted our dream.

Still hoping things can work out in the near future!
Thanks for this valuable resource!!

Welcome to Permiedise. I adore homesteading but wildcrafting in 410,000,000 acres of public land paradise is preoccupying my attention. Maybe some focus would be fruitful. Look forward to learning more. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Leigh Tate,

My middle name is Tate which came from 3 brothers that came over about the time of the Mayflower.
I have had dreams of living off grid and homesteading most of my life but alas I mostly dream and enjoy others success.   Hope your dreams keep coming true.

Eric, thank  you!

C.E. I hope it works out in the future for you too. It took Dan and me over a decade to start working on our dream. It can happen!

Jeremy, "Permiedise," I love it! Having all those acres to wildcraft is certainly a gift. Something I wish we could include more of on our homestead.

T.J. thanks!

Scott, thank you! We may be distant cousins!

Fredy, lol. We once thought that too, but quickly discovered it's a handful!

Welcome, Leigh!  Can't wait to get into this book!  I have 17.77 acres (crazy, huh? but that's what the survey says) and it is more than a handful, for sure!
